We'll leave and take our money with us then.

No problem. Let Germany, France and Italy prop up the failing economies within the EU.

When I was living in Malta the EU came in and started sorting the ****ers out - they knocked down and rebuilt bridges, builders started wearing hard hats and steel-toe-capped shoes, buses stopped having holes in their floors and stopped pissing out black smoke. I went back earlier this year and the place genuinely seemed like it was close to becoming a normal western country (modern buses and everything!).

So should Britain really be part of this EU project, fixing other countries, turning them into western states similar to themselves - after all it costs money? I suspect having 200 million extra customers for British products in 10 or 20 years time will prove the benefits of the project - just like when the Americans used the Marshall plan to help rebuild western Europe after WWII - we'll make our money back as their emerging middle classes start buying all our ****.

The Common Market was sold as a free trade agreement, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's the bureaucracy and extortion of the EU that makes it so unpleasant.

The US, Canada, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland don't have issues trading with EU members.

This doomsday scenario that everyone in Europe will refuse to trade with us is complete and utter bollocks.

The fact they want £1.7 billion from us shows that they need us more than we need them.

One of the big problems is that the likes of Norway don't have a seat at the table, but have to comply with EU laws in order to get any of its products sold in the EU. So when the EU makes it illegal to use different types of phone chargers the UK manufacturers (or whatever) will have to comply with EU law anyway, as they won't have two separate products for the UK and EU. Basically the UK will have EU laws, but will have no say in them (which is exactly what happens in Norway). You'll need to do a cost benefit analysis on how much that seat at the table is worth - but I think the French and Germans left at the table will very quickly make moves to handicap the likes of the City of London's power inside the common market (which they have been trying for years - and it's only been Britain's seat at the table which has stopped them).

Anyway, again, I think it will be very bad for British business and a move backwards for personal liberty.

Emulate Switzerland then. They had a referendum in February and the Swiss marginally voted against mass immigration. So far, the European Union has done nothing to prevent trade between them and Switzerland.

We could leave the EU, the EEA and the EFTA and the EU would still trade with us because they can't afford not to. We buy more EU goods than vice versa, and we could easily sell our goods elsewhere.

The EU needs us more than we need them.

Good to see Comedy Dave finally growing a pair.
They banned the Burkha in France against EU direction and France just laughed. Great to see us finally standing up to the wasters.

Personally if we left the EU.. others will swiftly follow.
It's amazing how a recession can focus voting minds closer to home.

Exactly. The French break EU directives regularly and they just ignore Brussels. It's time we stood up to the t**ts and see what the consequences are.

I can't believe the French have bigger balls than us at the moment.

We have great links to the main powers in the World we are America's little buddy the Chinks like us since we gave back Hong Kong and half of the richest Russians and Arabs use London as their playground .
To say that we will be cut off if we leave is ridiculous ,yes we may not get a good phone deal as Mick mentioned but hey ho it's better than throwing Billions into a hole to make better buses and roads in s**tty countries that can't get their own s**t together.
We don't use their micky mouse money so what is the point in staying?
They don't buy our cars or food products the only company that we can be proud of is Rolex and no **** can afford one in Slovenia or Hungary anyway.
The only thing we export is luxury items medicine and microchips.
Let's get the **** out and give them Scotland to experiment on.
