On another thread someone insignificant said: I personally don't dislike Telly... just think he's not good enough. Not wanting to derail that thread... which Liverpool players did you/do you actively dislike the most? (Liverpool fans... if you're a rival fan- who plays for you that you dislike) For me it was always Harry Kewell. Such a bloody faker. Istanbul 2005- when we started losing he developed a limp to get subbed off... as soon as we won he sprinted around to join in the celebrations. Then in 2007 final the dive instead of tracking back to win ball back from Milan (led to Milan getting 2nd goal). And... all the injuries (except in big games when he was well again). I disliked Suarez- but was tempered by liking what he did for us. Jermaine Pennant bugged the hell out of me... but no-one bothered me more than 'Sicknote' Kewell.
Think Konchesky is the only player I've really disliked whilst playing for Liverpool. Not just because I thought he was **** even before he signed for us, but also cause I saw him as a Woy man and I hated Woy and the idea of Woy being our manager. Almost as Woy had signed him just to have an ally in the dressing room and get the other players on board with his ****ty tactics. And maybe Diouf, cause he was such as vile human being. Most of my dislike is reserved for Ex-players who moved and then bad mouth the club, blaming Liverpool for their own crap time and playing badly. Most recent of these would be Aspas, who blamed us instead of admitting he just wasn't up to it.
hmmmmmmmmmm this is an interesting question. diouf was a disgusting individual. utterly hateful. no real impact either on field after that kewell's attitude stunk to high heaven. the 2006 world cup ear where he played cos he had to to get to world cup was vile. anyone could see he'd drop the moment aussies were out and by magic the game they were going out he pulled up and f'd off for them and all.... I just don't know..... i personally in 2003-5 timeframe a visceral hatred of danny murphy as i could see him just walk out at the start of a big game and look already beaten then turn in a ****e game.... I think it was irrational but the moment rafa arrive murphy was out the door and nobody rafa brought in was much better at the start leading me at the time to assume rafa say the same small timer attitude i hated... probably a bit harsh. kewell was prob the worst... but you ALL know... David N'dog for me was the most annoying of all.... i said on old 606 after 15mins of a reserve game he was tosh and i was proved right time after time after time.....
Joe Cole, Charlie Adam , Stewart Downing in equal measure. 33.3% each. Oh ok ill give the left over 0.1% to Charlie Adam.
JOE COLE! How could I forget him (well because I wanted to probably) what an absolute complete and utter waste of space. His wages? Ffs his wages
Hate is such a strong word and a completely misplaced emotion in a football setting. It's absurd to hate someone for being ****- a little more understandable if they patently don't give a ****. I'm really disappointed to see how quickly and vehemently people are turning on our own players because things aren't going to plan.
The quote this thread is based on is from me. You'll noticed I didn't use the word hate, this is because I agree with what you say; how could I genuinely hate a sportsman? Its ridiculous!
N'Gog Ruddock Morientes Owen Voronin Spearing Carroll Pennant Bellamy Sinama Pongolle to name a few, plus the others mentioned above. I could go on, we've had some proper duds and pricks, more than our fair share
I think I do actually hate Balotelli. I can forgive bad players or unsuited to our team, but I cannot abide players who have such innate attitude problems and poor work ethic. I pray kids don't look up to him as a role model.
I envy them more than hate. doing a job everyone of us would do for a 1/10th of their wage and sometimes put 100 times more effort in a well.
