Some very decent performances, but we still look pretty vulnerable at the back. Definitely not there yet. Fantastic goals, especially the ludicrous Lamela finish and we're playing it around quite well at times, too. I assume that the 1882 group is at the game, as there's been a constant stream of songs from start to finish. Shame some haven't joined in and raised the atmosphere, but it's been much better than it has in a lot of games, anyway. Changed your mind about Kane yet, RS?
Up until the second goal, I thought that Ade was anonymous. However, you cannot take away from him the fact that, but for his strength in holding off the defenders in the build up to that second goal, Lamela would not have scored. That said, I still want to see more from him. For the first 30 minutes of that first half I thought Townsend was awful; but he improved towards the end. Both our fullbacks have looks a bit dodgy tracking back from forward positions. Kane, I must say, has been very good. Otherwise, I thought that was a solid performance for the first half, and we deserve the lead.
Commentators just summed up Lamela in this game for me: "When he has no time to think, he is irresistible." The flip side of course being that he can be indecisive if given time. Lets hope he doesn't do a Lennon.
I'll eat my words about starting a second 11, at least as far as Lamela is concerned. He was in a rut, and this has lifted him out of it. Good comment, to the effect that Lamela is at his best when he doesn't have time to think. We have a few talented players. An unbelievable save by Lloris. We haven't been the better team by much, and we're up three. Well, the shoe was on the other foot last weekend. It feels better on this foot. We're also up three thanks to three brilliant strikes, not one massive twat.
Bloody hell! Lamela is looking like the player we all thought he was! And, what a fantastic save from Lloris! Outstanding!
Thick and fast...like me, really, except I'm thick and slow. One of our problems this year is that we've got three attacking mids whose favorite goal scoring spots are very near each other. Kane would rather shoot from the left, as well. We could use a player who likes to shoot from the right of the box. You see why I like the idea of Dembele farther forward. He worries defenders with his dribbling, and has quite a good shot, if he can be convinced to use it.
