http://www1.skysports.com/football/...rain-with-manchester-united-after-knee-injury So our trial never happened I guess, and now United are probably going to snap him up. Even though they already have a fantastic keeper. We certainly don't. Going to be very pissed off if we miss out on yet another player we need.
And Mignolet isn't? Valdes is much better. If not at least it's someone to kick Migs up the arse. He is totally content with playing **** because he knows who the backup is.
Said it in the Transfer thread, complete waste of time for Valdes. De Gea is a much better keeper and has a firm grip on that starting spot and its not like Man U have lots of other games to play a 2nd goalkeeper in, No European, no league cup and maybe a few FA cup games, cause there is no way I'd drop De Gea from league games when they're only 1 a week. Liverpool view; he's probably better than Mings but not much. Yes we need a new GK, but I think we can look for better and perhaps younger. I have always maintained he was a very lucky GK, lucky to have such an extraordinary team in front of him for years that meant he had very little to do.
No matter how much you do or don't rate Migs, buying Valdes because 'we need someone' isn't the best of reasons
Valdes would be a pointless signing. He's about as **** as Mignolet. We need to buy a proper keeper in the Jan window. Replace him for good. He's a decent shot stopper. But has no command of his area, piss poor dealing with long balls and the whole defense is a bloody mess because the GK is a ****ing wuss. Begovic would be a perfect replacement. Should have gone for him in the first place.
Valdes probably doesn't care how much playtime he gets. He has nothing left to prove. He's probably content to go where the money is. United are throwing money around like mad. Wouldn't be buying him. He's a free transfer. He'd be worthwhile to sign for remainder of season at very least if he is better than Migs (and salary attainable).
Incorrect. We wouldn't be paying a transfer fee, we'd still be buying his services through the contractual agreement
Would have liked Valdes because of his experience, plays as a sweeper and good distribution. Still suspect in other areas but would have been welcome competition. I just hope we have a very good replacement lined up in January.
It's a strange signing for Man United and to me, it smacks of De Gea wanting to leave for Real Madrid.
Which... assuming a rather generous salary (for his age) of 80k p/w- would be £2mill for the next 6 months (plus sign on bonus if he thus negotiates one). That's pretty cheap price to improve our goal keeper for this year- and potentially keep us in Champions League spots. (we're on the line). Sure... only a short term solution.
