http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...confirms-he-is-seeking-reds-exit-9812794.html Not sure myself due to the little that I've seen of him recently, he was an effective attack minded player though with decent work rate a couple of seasons ago but theres a reason why he's not currently playing regularly ?
I think the reason that Lucas isn't playing is because of three reasons: 1. Henderson is currently better than him. 2. Gerrard moved into a deeper position - where Lucas likes to play. 3. Allen is a Rodgers' signing. I'd take him if he wanted it. Great natural DM cover/competition for Leon. It would allow Ki and Shelvey to compete for a place further up to pitch, putting more pressure on Gylfi to perform. Update: Just an aside, he's not really an "attack minded" player. He's always been a defensive midfielder for Liverpool. The first sentence on his profile on LFC's official website is "Lucas Leiva is a holding midfielder for both Liverpool and Brazil." Thanks , watching them last night , between flicking channels I must add there didn't appear to be any drive from Liverpool . Gerrards a shadow of the player he was which is to expected considering his age , Liverpools problem is now Rodgers appears to be still revolving the team, around Gerrard and whilst he's still there he'll be difficult to shift imo to the detriment .As good as Real were last night even in second gear in the second half ,Liverpool offered very little .
Lucas with Allen coming on board was the reason Shelvey was surplus to requirements. Watch the Being Liverpool series and listen to Rogers talking to Shelvey off to one side in training about what he wanted to see from him. Shelvey apparently couldn't deliver to Rogers expected level. IMO, if Lucas arrived he would replace Shelvey, compete with Leon (that is Leon still has it after the injury) and permit Ki to play in the role further foward, much like he did against Stoke in the first half where I thought he was very effective. Shelvey then gets to compete with Sig or hits the bench. This would be good for us - a step up.
And on last night's match against Madrid ... once 'Pool burnt their stamina in that first 20 minutes or so and "rested" from the tempo and pace of the game that they had set it was all over. They never had the energy to shift the gear back up, and Madrid comfortably kept rolling along. It was not just a skill mis-match but on an athletic level too.
“There was contact with Napoli last summer, but the parties didn’t reach a satisfactory agreement. It’s true that Benitez has always held me in high esteem." Not sure he would come to us if he's making overtures to Napoli. Sounds arrogant too - needs a strong manager.
Not so sure about that. I think he would perform better than Shelvey and be a better fit - no long balls to nowhere for example. Look at him as a stronger, perhaps bigger version of Carroll.
In the last two seasons he has played a total of 60 games. I don't think his past injuries (knee) are much to worry about. He has also played 24 senior matches for Brazil; also a respectable record.
I'd have him. He'd add quality to our DM side of things and has vast experience in pressure cooker situations. Plus he's only 27 so I can f he can overcome e past injuries its a winner all round.
He should be a bit part player now. But will Rodgers have the balls to play a midfield three of Henderson, Allen and Lallana? I don't think so.
Would depend on transfer fee and wages he requires... only if he was a real bargain is my take .The way Ki has been playing my views have changed on midfield needs ...Ki is a unexpected surprise imo
I knew Ki was good , I just didnt expect him to be semi great , and he is so far . Lets hope he can keep it up..hes no Michu though
The signs were never obvious but he has been surprisingly good , reads the game well with a bit more of a physical presence about him as well now if he could only score he's be well up with the best .
Should read Roof ...no Michu in his first season as ki is far better than michu today. Im hoping Napoli will send him back as he has been rubbish for them and he comes to his senses there is no better team than us and he starts to perform and enjoy his football again. Michu is far better than bony when he is on form and thats the michu i would love to see back.
