  2. I think we need a recognised DM that will actually offer the defence some protection (not moaning about Gerrard!)

I still think Gerrard is very important to the team but he might benefit from a proper defensive midfielder alongside him. I think we need to go back to 2 sitting like Alonso and Mascherano used to do. Gerrard can play the Alonso roll, in fact its pretty much what he is doing now but without a Mascherano next to him.

  4. I did say I wasn't moaning about Gerrard, he's just not the destroyer that the defence needs!

We don't need to spend big - we need to spend wisely on quality players.

We spent big on Lovren, Markovic, Lallana etc and it's not helped. Markovic being a player for the future but the other are ones who are 'prem proven' and should help us now and have had little impact.

    What do we need:

GK - first and foremost. One who is commanding, willing to shout at his defence and rile them up. And one who is not afraid to come off his line.

CB - a RIGHT sided centre back.

    DM - get William Carvalho

CM - go all out and get Pogba

Attackers - Volland, Pierre Emerick, Lacazette.

True, I don't think we'll see one though while Rodgers is there. He wont play with 2 holding midfielders and Gerrard is going to be filling that position until he retires whether we like it or not

Rodgers cannot play in a midfield 2 - regardless of whoever you put alongside him.

He can only play with 2 powerful midfielders in front him, and even then he's still a liability.

GK = lloris... he's the best in the prem. find an equivilant.

CB: we have one his name is lovern and we've an LCB too... ought to try 'em for 5 games.

CM: pogba... no chance... you are right but no chance

At: must be a quality striker. a real one.

I can't argue with any of it but its time to think about our coaches and why a player like mingloet who simply can't kick has not developed one iota and our defnce? what are we doing... pulis could fix this in 2 weeks.

  10. Must be a mobile working type that knows where the goal is. I'm not saying they have to run as much as Kuyt or Suarez, they just need to have feet <ok>

Agreed - someone who actually compliments our style of play.

And agree with MITO that Pogba is unrealistic but that type of player. Basically, a Henderson but with more technical quality.

Lovren is a poor defender and I don't agree with his signing whatsoever. He has made mistakes in every game he has played - I would prefer to see him alongside Sakho though but personally, I'd start Toure and Sakho.

Is the problem scouting or negotiating?

We went for Costa, Mkitaryan and Willian last summer. This was the summer Costa became a big hit.

  13. Unlikely we'd have got all three but how much different would our team be if we had? Also the CB from Schalke (?); something like Papalchwolhwc;o

Papadopoulos or however you spell it, who spent most of last season injured and is now on loan at Leverkusen?

  15. Yeah, thought he'd recovered from injury? No idea how he's done since either, I was thinking more of his dominance in the air.

EDIT: He got four league appearances last season. In three of those, he came on as a sub in the 88th minute or later. In the other, he got sent off and Schalke lost 5-1.

He's had two league appearances so far this season; in one of these he came on in the 80th minute. In the other he came on in the 60th when Leverkusen were winning 3-1; the game finished 3-3. Seems to have played well yesterday when he came on in the 60th minute though, and he got a goal.

Let him get back to form at Leverkusen then buy him in the summer? If Di Matteo would sell to us...

  19. You mean when he's more in the Liverpool price bracket; at least £20m...?

I think Mkitaryan was first choice, Costa second, Willian third and then we got Moses on loan, Missed out on Salah and now have signed Markovic.

I think we pulled out of the Papa deal because of his injuries.
