Frenchman makes SoL switch. Sunderland AFC has confirmed the signing of former France international Anthony Reveillere. The 34-year-old full-back has signed a deal with the Black Cats until the end of the season and will wear the number 15 shirt. Pending international clearance from the Italian FA, Reveillere could be available to make his Black Cats debut against Arsenal this weekend. Reveillere began his professional career at French side Rennes where he made over 100 appearances before moving to Lyon, where he spent ten years gaining a wealth of UEFA Champions League and Europa League experience. While with Lyon, Reveillere made almost 300 appearances, winning seven trophies including five Ligue 1 titles. He was also selected by France for the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the UEFA European Championships in 2012. The defender spent last season with Serie A side Napoli, making 18 appearances and helping the Naples club to a Coppa Italia win, before his contract came to an end in the summer.
Just a bit concerned that I'm sure the other day the talk was it would take time to get match fit. Do we only ever bring in players who haven't actually played the game for ages ? Or does it just seem so?
Sweet Fullback cover. Having to do this really exposes Congerton's failure in the summer, but I suppose with a budget and dependent on who was available it may have been unavoidable.
I think he'll start and Poyet will see how it goes. If he fades after half time he can drop Seb back and bring on another midfield player or even play Johnson there.
Depends how fit he's kept himself since he's been without a club. Could be straight in, could be a month from being ready or anything in between.
Your scaring me with the dropping Seb back part, maybe Bridcutt can fill him in during the week at training
The whole ****ing situation is scary mate but we have to show some courage against Arsenal. They were lucky to draw at home against Hull our home form is good
You'd think but some players can even get fit for a new season when they have a club. I'd think he'll be fit but he's going to need games isn't he? Hopefully he's in position to make an impact
We will mate, I just wish I could be there to show my support, it's hard being over here, when I want to be there screaming me lungs out for the fellas!
Put a 34 year old who hasnt played competetively since may straight into a a game against arguably the quickest team in the league, sounds a recipe for disaster to me. He may make the bench due to having no other fit defenders but id be flabbergasted if Poyet through him in, especially after last Saturday.
See I think he might do it BECAUSE of Saturday. But I don;t know anything about the lad we've signed other than what has been said on here - never seen him play or anything.
Me too I have just flown back from there and I am ****ed!!! Does anyone know if this lad is any good???
