I was wondering about that. I feel that it would be sensible to turn the sprinklers on about 10 minutes earlier on Saturday. You can't be too careful. Sadly, I am going to miss this one due to a family obligation. I am so glad I was there for Sunderland, mind. I think that we will win by a decent margin. I just think that we have the goals in us at the moment.
There's a thread on SaintsWeb about what results this weekend suit us best...making the assumption that we win (and nothing is certain in this world). Ignoring the fact it is a bit early in the season, it rather depends on where we think we will end up. If we are bedazzled and think we are CL material, we want the big sides to lose, but (more realistically) wouldn't it be better to get that gap between us and the rest that we had last season...it kept us in a good position even if we lost a few games (notably because we had a good GD...like this season). One thing I will add: I know we feel that we need to pile the points on before we meet the bigger sides, but I have a feeling that we will win/draw some of those games. I think we are a more rounded side this season and I see no reason that we can't get some points off City/Arsenal/Chelsea etc. I can see 6th as attainable (though we may not need it when we win both cups ).
Of course we can. Stoke took point from City, everyone takes points from United, Arsenal is similar to them in that regard, and we already beat them as well. Everton is worse than last season. We played two away games to CL/EL pretenders, Liverpool and Tottenham, and we probably should have won a point, but were unlucky. Other game some things might go our way, and we'll also play better at home. But it's still easier to take points from Stoke and such.
You will notice that I didn't include United in the list of big sides. How far have they fallen that I actually thought about including them and then realised that they are second stringers rather than one of the top sides.
Indeed, but still, when you have a couple of world class players in your ranks, you can always achieve a positive result, no matter how poor you've played as a team.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/11552538.Koeman_praises_his_midfield_maestros/?ref=mac Echo article about Koeman praising his scoring midfielders. He points out that you need scorers all over the pitch to make more of a challenge to the opposition, but I think it is very important for us as we are rather light up front. Other than Pelle, we have Long (no goals so far), Mayuka (scarcely played) and Mane (1 goal). Gallagher still on his way back to fitness and JRod is even further behind. Imagine (or perhaps don't ) Pelle being out of action...he said he had an ankle problem and there was talk of him coming off at half time on Saturday Don't know about this Kuyt rumour, but we may fancy getting a striker in January.
Not at all. That is the old Saints fan worrying about others catching us. Be ambitious and hope those above lose so we can do the catching. That is what I have been doing. I want Chelsea and Man City to lose and don't worry about those behind us.........because they are behind us. Onwards and upwards not 'I hope can we can repeat last season'. It is and should be 'I hope we can improve on last season.'
Whatever did young Sam do to himself? Did he pick up the most untalked about injury in football ever?
Initially people seemed to think it was a mental thing after his father's death, but he did post a picture of his leg bandaged or in a boot (can't remember which). Could have been a combination of both I guess. Shots of him in training suggest he is close to recovery.
One thing for sure, is that we have lost the element of surprise, we will be given more respect and a lot more effort will be used to nullify what we offer, it will get harder as the season moves on. Class will tell, if we have it, we will do all right. There are still many elements to get in our way, we won't get seven or eight "lucky" goals every week!
2 days ago he tweeted that the operation went nice and smoothly. Sounds like it's a knee problem by his comments.

Don't you know the latest news Fran..? He's [wait until I look up the correct word] thrilled to be playing for Saints. This is why he looks happy.
