Not taking the piss mate, i watch Madrid every week on sky sports and it is just what they do. Thay draw teams out then make strikes in 10-20 mins of fast atacking football. Gerrez said it was end to end, he is right but how much threat did you pose, did you notice a difference when Madrid started to take control? There is no disgrace in losing to this Madrid team and i would hate us to face them right now so no piss taking or gloating involved, just saying it like i see it
I doubt that there is any real complaint about being beaten by Madrid. They were the better team in all sections of the pitch. But I've seen less technically able Liverpool sides show far more courage and make more of a game of it than we did last night. That's what angers me. As you say, Madrid have a concentrated style of play. Last season we did the same but in a different way ie fast start in both halves. We knew it was coming and when it started we failed to up our pace. That's where we lost the game. The 1st goal was superb skill and very few sides could have defended it. But after that we gave them far far too much time and space and paid the penalty.
Lallana was overpriced, but you're being ****ing obtuse bracketing him in with the other three in terms of quality. And you're also missing the uncomfortable truth that Liverpool's best player, who didn't,t look out of his depth against that opposition, was bought by Bron for under £10m in Coutinho.

I agree, Madrid could've had 6 but to gift two goals to them so poorly.... Well that's the annoyance. Our game plan was high press balotelli got the blame for it stopping on 20 mins in reality sterling and coutinho and Allen and Henderson stopped For 20 mins all was good, in possession Gerrard was between Skertl and lovern and both Allen and Henderson were dropping deep as options and we were actually able to pass it and get the ball back as well. 1/4 of the game. After that only Henderson was dropping back, the press dropped off and kroos could do what he liked Fitness for me is a big issue, balotelli played no differently to any other game. The others couldn't do enough I feel the better tactic was two strong banks of 4 with the two left told to sit on kroos and then run channels I lost count of times Moreno set up to play it down the line and sterling failed to make a 5 yard movement out to take it on and Moreno passed inside or back. Little simple things all over park..... Very serious critised of Rodgers really.... I like his basic in possession game plan but I don't like how for 3 years we look like a 1/2 hour team and I don't like his defensive set ups at all
Not quite. You pressed them hard in the opening 20 and had some success in harrying them off the ball and pushing them back. However, the intensity of the press dropped after 20 odd minutes and they started to get a yard of space on the ball, they then started to dictate the play and scored. Once in the lead their class took over for the rest of the first half and they dominated play, scoring twice more and finishing the game as a contest by HT.
I would like to make a joke about Liverpool's performance against Madrid last night, but I can't. Rodgers had managed to take an expensively assembled squad to the CL group stages, something many can only dream of.
****ing funny that Utd fans and fans from the bottom half of the table teams - Tobes etc. are wumming away. We earnt the right to play the best club team in European football, and there is no disgrace losing to them. When you look what position we were in a few years back im amazed that we are where we are today. Fully deserve it too. Chelsea will smash Utd at the weekend - egg on their faces. Everton - I don't even bother to look at who they're playing as they pose no threat. Last night was always going be extrememly difficult, Madrid are a far better outfit (in every position). So no shame for me in the result, the only shame on our club was Ballotelli - I thought he was going to be a success (not ashamed to admit it). I now realise he is probably one of our worst players of all time . One good thing is, we have until the CL game after going to Madrid to get some kind of form together, because if we do we CAN beat the other 2 teams in our group which will see us go into the next round. In the league we're above all our main rivals for top 4 (except perhaps Southampton, but I expect them to drop away slightly). Rodgers needs to really think about who to play until Sturridge is fit, as Balotelli seems to be bringing the whole momentum of the team down with his lazy ways. But on the whole, without Suarez we're still in the fight whilst playing poorly. I guess that's the difference with us and say Everton, they play poorly and end up in 13th, they don't have the minerals to grind out results - something we didn't have a few seasons ago. Quite simply to move forward while Sturridge is out we need to make big changes to our shape. I wouldn't mind seeing a front 3 of Sterling, Coutinho and Lallana and play fast counter attacking football - with Sterling through the middle. Similar to how Arsenal have played before with Wallcott through the middle.
I think a) mancs can only be laughed at cos frankly most of us called this result well in advance AND they are so bad they are not even in it. b) I don't agree only shame is badontelly. I found our intensity drop off alarming and our shooting of ourselves in the foot twice sadly par ofr the course. c) logo nobodies drew with basel which lessens the blow...... slightly.... if we can actually beat that lot away (highly highly unlikely in this form) and beat basel this result has no bearing on group. the good this is we play basel last so real playing a dead rubber at the end will not affect the group. d) rodgers needs a long long think about himself.. not only up front but needs to realize he's an shambles at the back and his team takes silly risks when unnecessary... by all means knock it about at the back but to try and chip it over a guy on the edge of your own pen box or to play it to lb and end up on your own goal line hacking ti out is not good.... e) i'd be very dissapoointed to see that front 3. nobody wants to admit sterling isn't all that as a player in the box... well he is not. running past real strikers getting 1:1 ok fine but he's not a box player and won't score many. I think personally I'd rather groan at rickie lambert being terribly slow but a trier for the next 3 games now.... I'd rather borini run about and fire every shot wide than that... neither will happen. If balotelli plays from the start v hull the crowd should turn on rodgers.

only correction i'd make is LFC threw in two more goals as usual and madrid couldn've had 2 more from their own play if it had been 1-0 at half time nobody would complain.. or even 3-0 through madrid being that good... which they were not btw. they were good but i don't think they extended themselves so much after they scored. we threw in 2 goals stupidly.
did they... i was only checking up to thepoint where the the ref took pity on us with 2mins extra time in a game with 5 subs and more stuff second half.... the beeb website went glitchy on my mobile and wouldn't load so i went in to the sitting room to the missus thereafter.
We simply got schooled - the gulf in class is huge and was actually expected. We lost to the European Champions and there isn't any shame in that. However, we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with basic mistakes - and there is plenty of shame in that. Rodgers needs to realise that there are players in this team who playing because of their name and reputation - Skrtel, Johnson and Gerrard are the main ones.
I just checked the tables on bbc site. Its actually in correct. As we beat ludo we are in second.... result sounct first in head to head but bbc had it the other way... the group is therefore wide open. If madrid hammer both of our rivals we have games to come back at them.... must not lose by 10 at bernebau and then go beat ludo and basel and we'll qualify on 9 points. if we expect madrid to win all games or at least get draw in last two after qualifiying.. basel can now only get 6/7 points unless we let them do us at anfield. Ludo are the same unless again we let them draw with us at their place.... this away game is now crucial. Better position IMO than City for sure.
