Didnt concede many goals back then though. 17 or something in a season didnt he? Or was that Dudek. Im thinking Hyppia/Henchoz in front of the keeper
Question... Which of the Real Madrid goals could Mig have stopped tonight? Answer, none of them. He actually saved it being 6-0
3rd goal. come out with his hands and catch the ball on the floor instead of kick it into Skrtel. Other than that, he played well
Let's work back..... Dudek Westerveld James Friedal was as bad his first year and end up having long quality career Carson played a few games was as bad In short..... Mingolet plays too deep and doesn't come out that's his problem but he can save a few
All fingers really should be pointing at that festering turd of a back-four in front of him, rather than hitting others in the drive-by. The problems are obvious, you have no strikers without Sturridge, and your defence is utterly attrocious. Personally don't think you've signed the right type of players to ever work under Rodgers' system... You need ball playing defenders... You've got defenders who would prefer a move to Stoke..... You need a striker who runs, gets as many assists as goals... Well, when I say that, you have that, Balotelli has f*** all of either. It's just a bit of an unbalanced horror show, with the midfield trying to play like last season, Mario trying to play like he's goal-poaching on a beach in Brazil, and the defence playing like Gemini on robot wars... It's going to need more money to turn this around! I say this knowing full well you'll spank Newcastle 5 or 6
I agree, with the keeper it's the back 5 that's a problem Mingolet didn't do much wrong tonight and he isn't exactly getting much help. Individually the defenders are not poor players it's more of a system and formation issue we have. Go further forward and the full backs and center back don't have any cover or players helping them. Defend as a team? We just don't. Too easy to point fingers at individuals.
Look if lfc want to play a pressing game everyone needs to be higher up and mingolet has to fervour on edge of 18 yard box If he's going to glue himself to the line then if we press gaps appear. It's that simple If mingolet plays, we have to all sit deep and hit sides on counter, be compact and play on break.
Didn't see tonight's game but Ming reminds me of David James when he played for us. Fine if the ball was straight at him but gave everyone a heart attack whenever he came out for a cross. This is not something we should go back too.
I seriously don't get what people are seeing with this stuff about not dealing with crosses well. Migs deals with crosses far better than any other keeper we've had in the last twenty plus years. If you're going to pick on him fine, but pick on him for a genuine reason!
