Add it all up all you want Tobes, as a team striving to play CL and reach top four again we had to do it while not attracting the real deal players that the other established CL teams did. They didn't want to come. Do you just keep the money, tiny squad and give up or spend it on a whack load of possibilities and see how it goes...if they'd worked or still do work then panic over, if not well then that's the managers head rolling. Who's comparing them? I was arguing the point that buying the best players somehow doesn't work - it does, when you buy genuine quality. Your problem is that you've paid top dollar for average players, you could have bought a couple of top drawer players, buy you bought a cartload of over priced average larkers
I'm saying top dollar is what Real Madrid have used. We've used above average money on potential players. If we went out and paid 40 million in one player and he flopped then I would agree with you, so far we've bought players with potential.

Depens what you mean by "massive" prices. Lallana was the most expensive, and I think he only just about made the Top 10 Premier League transfer this summer. Course they're big prices for average clubs, but they're hardly elite prices (that's not to say they're not overpriced though).
