Absolutely spot on, must be hard to put yourself in those boots you once wore knowing this fatal outcome, saying that, "that could have been me" rears its ugly head everyday in some way shape or form I was 846 numbers off the millionaire raffle on the euro last night
You know fellas, I think we've become a little immune to what we see on the TV. The world is such a messed-up place at the moment and we have so much information available at our fingertips. We have all kinds of news agencies bringing us images and stories 24 hours a day. That still doesn't mean we don't know right from wrong. Or is joking a way of getting the anxiety out of our system? Are we in danger of not being shocked anymore....sort of?
We're all desensitising unless we can directly relate, unfortunately that's what the atrocities of this world has done to us, developing our coping mechanisms. It's a strange feeling when you can directly relate. It makes you feel truely human again.
My apologies for calling everyone an asshole, as has been noted this was a little close to home for me. Also, DM is right I guess I have been americanized.
I've been rebuked by a few people over here mate for calling them a-holes. Mt wife reckons that is an Americanism as well
****ing hell just heard about this, I was in that parliament building 3 months ago on holiday!! Who the hell attacks Canada, they are about as offensive as cuddly toys!!!
I'm ex-military as well, I certainly don't see the funny side, the winds of war are blowing through Britain, we have to prepare ourselves!
By the sound of news reports now the shooter was a Canadian who recently converted to Islam and his passport had been confiscated to prevent him from joining ISIS so in a relatively short space of time he has been converted, radicalised, and become one of their martyrs. There is not a country who is contributing to the fight against ISIS that is safe from Islam extremism in any shape or form, but that is the price we must suffer for being a tolerant free society. Freedom of speech, movement and thought is the very thing that ISIS is feeding on and the western world is in real danger of takeover. Probably Australia will be next as they have a small force over there. Just as an aside, but it may be significant, George W Bush gave the speech following 9/11 about the CRUSADE against terror. The speech had originally said CAMPAIGN but Dick Cheney or Condoleeza Rice had changed it. I know that the original crusades led to the divide between christian and muslim but if the speech had been given from the original draft then maybe we would not have reached today's situation.
Nobody sees a funny side, why would you infer that after what's just been written in the previous 20 or so posts? I'm ex forces, I don't see what that has to do with anything, you can't imply that non-forces are more apathetic to situations like this because they never served in a military totally unconnected to the Canadian forces. Do-gooders trying to score points for how much sympathy they can offer from their armchair, **** sake, it's like going up to anybody that ever laughed at Tommy Cooper when he died on stage, saying "You should be ashamed, that man died". I'd understand a lot more if somebody was offended by the fact that we were laughing at an alcoholic who is constantly dicing with death, at least we know all the facts about Gascoigne.
I think Canadian are funny. Tom Green cracks me up. Oh wait is that may be construed as disrespectful.
problem is all arabs and all taht ****e are muslims.. wereas so many white people aint relgious.. and take all the arabs who are muslims.. its a guaranteed influx of extremists. which is why you can never beat it.. i mean say allah is a **** and you're a target for beheading..
