The Sky reporter just said there's a heavy police presence out side the post office - no kidding- I reckon most of them exist on a diet of doughnuts they make for big targets please log in to view this image
Did you know, seriously (I don't even know why I'm bothering, you definitely know this already) the Canadian postal service vehicles have a higher priority than any other vehicle on Canada's roads? They basically love our Queen that much that they prioritise (well the law states they should) getting letters there on time, over somebody who could be dying in an ambulance. Your statement above, therefore doesn't surprise me.
Howling at this thread Visions of gazza 'how muzzy marra divvent be so extreme man, me & yee gan back a lang way, uncle gazza ull help ya, put ya shoe bombs away and we'll have a pint'
I have to say that as an ex military man, you lot are a bunch of ****ing assholes. You just turned this thread into a comedy session and a soldier in Canada guarding the cenotaph was just shot 3 times at point blank range. Must be nice to find comedy in this type of ****.
My appologise, had no idea anybody was hurt, thought it was a run on parliament that had been thwarted Not in front of the box, still grafting
What's being ex-military got to do with it? Do you mourn every time Kim-Jong Un executes one of his military troops for having the wrong haircut? I don't think people are making fun of a dead soldier, no matter what you try to infer, that's simply not happening here.
Terry, I'm not inferring that people are making fun of a shot soldier. My point is that the shootings in Ottawa are shocking and this thread turned into a comedy routine. The ex military part is that I have been that guy on guard duty who got shot today, so I have an affinity for the situation.
No its deffinately not, this thread is very funny the way it turned, there is no malice and no reference to anything untoward, there is some very witty and amusing posts the made me lol, nowt to do with the current affair just banter. However if horden has taken exception to that then we should respect it imo
This. It's a current affairs thread, not a memorial thread. Nobody who's been hurt has been the butt of any joke I've seen. If this is 'disrespectful' i could go through the o/t threads and be bumping the 'disrespect' all night long.
Horden, sorry for any offence taken mate. What I will say is that the news is just reaching us that the on-duty honour soldier has died and that there are multiple gunmen still on the loose. I'd think everyone on here would offer their thoughts and support for the Canadians.
Perhaps we should just wait and see what the outcome is here, before fun is poked in any direction, black humor has its place but timing is also important.
There's no need for the '****ing arseholes' comment. Not one reference to the soldier and the comments flooded in real time before anybody knew any facts. Para was drip feeding this thread info, nothing regarding the soldier. Until we knew about the soldier it was just a nutter firing at a building. Unfortunately the guy has died, which is awful news, poor fella just doing his job.
Agreed, looks like its turned nasty, doesnt stop any banter gone before though Line in the sand ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's sad news, the news enough will have turned the thread back to a serious note, why can't the thread just be left to flow instead of derailing it with complaints of disrespect.. Hope the situation in Canada can be halted without further bloodshed. Horden, have a bit of faith in your fellow posters man, if you just posted your story you wouldn't have been short of empathy, guaranteed. Hope you're holding up ok in light of the further developments.
