Anyone in this camp yet? What is everyone thinking about the appointment, as of today? I was in favour of NA getting the job, which appeared to be the right way forward in mid-September, but I am getting a little concerned about his lack of a plan B to break down defences. I am not in the Adams Out camp by any stretch of the imagination, but I am asking questions of him
NO way , the last 4 games we have had a lions share of possession and enough shots corners and attempts to have won all 4. We are lacking a striker who can scare the opposition and finish a large chunk of chances. We need to use one of the new CB s we bought and put Martin back on the right too as we don't keep clean sheets either. Adams is doing a good job so sacking him would be mental.
He seems to be a bit stubborn in that department, do you think he will make such changes of his own free will?
Too early to say, however if no obvious progress is being made and we finish outside of the playoffs come the end of the season, then I'm not sure I'd keep him. I would also argue with 23 about "doing a good job". I think "passable, Ok or Alright" job with mitigating additions like "limited team building time" or "given he's inexperienced and hopefully learning". But a good job? not so sure. Bah!
Oh f** off, ridiculous and entirely pointless thread. Can we have some more cats playing piano please?
oh well...you can always take part properly in about another 10 games perhaps eh? Would it have a been a better question without the poll? It's only to gauge the mood of fans about what has happened and how they feel things are going. Nothing to tense over Judging by your reaction, you must be in one of two camps 1 - He is brilliant or 2 - Couldn't care less
Strangely enough Thai, I wasn´t in favour of his appointment, hoping we could have found someone more experienced, but I´ve been mildly impressed with how he´s taken the job on. The crunch though was always going to be, when/if things stopped going quite so well, how would he cope. I think if we´d won last night, then this thread probably wouldn´t have appeared, because Fulham being Fulham, we were never going to win, and the two games before that, we were just plain unlucky. That said, he does need very quickly to find a couple of wins from somewhere, or I fear the grumblers will let themselves be heard. One other aspect of this is, how will McNally and the board react to any discontent from the fans. Last season they continued to turn a very deaf ear to fans grumbles for a very long time, my guess is that if the same thing happened this year they might easily adopt the opposite route, and jump much more quickly, so in that respect I think fans should err on the side of caution, at least for now.
I think it's a reasonable question- it is a forum for debate after all. I think he's doing ok,. but far from great, the team does seem to have blended, which is good, but for all NA's claims about attacking creative football, that is hardly likely to happen with two central defensive midfielders- he seems to make subs that are like for like in positional sense rather than changing the format of the team.
This was part of my thinking, and it not hard to see that the board could 'knee-jerk' if the crowd starts voicing their displeasure, which will happen if the home games are not won.
3 unlucky games, some clear problems throughout the squad in how we are approaching matches and the odd poor performance. Not a good reason to even consider sacking a manager, given that we remain in the top 6 (albeit on goal difference), but definitely a good reason to ask what a novice manager is going to do next. This is where Adams earns his stripes. How is he going to react to this? It's easy being a manager when confidence is high and the ball is finding the back of the net for you, but good managers dig you out of ruts. It's a long season, so if we just get a break in one of our next matches you never know we may go on a great run of form again. The fact is we are dominating every single match (even the Fulham match, though our worst performance of the season, we were still the better team). I want to see Adams get a bit nasty, rotate the squad a bit more and show some guile. I think the fans need to step up in home games too. We saw the effect the fans had on our squad last season under Hughton - let's not have that happen again.
Probably par for the course for a young inexperienced manager. A mixed bag of very good but also tactically naive at times, it's fair to say he is very much still learning the ropes and will have to learn them quickly in this industry. One thing that both our clubs can pride ourselves on is not having trigger fingers as generally, managers are afforded plenty of time (in today's context) The crunch will be (as it always is) when the decision is on development against instant success. I would have confidence in saying Neeyul could take you up, if not this year then probably next... if he was allowed the time. I would say that January will be an interesting month as owners tend to show their hands, so if things have fallen apart then it might be a question facing the board.. but quite honestly, I can't see your lot falling outside the top 10 this season. As for the comment of lacking a goalscorer.. I thought Hooper was that man? Also Jerome should notch 20+ in this league in all honesty
That's part of the bigger picture isn't it, the whole team/squad 'should' be capable of doing better, and that is not just Norwich fans saying so, but for whatever reason a bit of a wobble has been encountered. I want the guy to succeed, for stability if for no other reason.
I was not enthused by NA appointment but given how flat we were at the end of last season I' have taken top 6 going into late October. However given the strong start we had now being 5th on a run of four without a win feels poor. Truth is that we do have the players to win this league and with the players we have it would be a failure by the management if we do not at the absolute minimum finish in the top 6. I think that we are paying the price for a manager learning his trade, and more importantly, learning who his best XI are and what formation(s) suit the resources at his disposal. That said I think that he gets a bit more experience and some of our better players come back from injury - Howson was IMO good last night and with Hooper and Gladys Ouija Board in the wings to come back and Ryben as well our squad may prove to get stronger as we head towards Xmas rather than weaker which will certainly be the case for a lot of our rivals who may have a dozen or so top players but not a lot in reserve. I still remain upbeat about our prospects this season although our lack of clean sheets plus goals drying up is an obvious double cause for concern. I don't think NA will be sacked unless we are lower mid-table around Xmas or out of the top 6 in May. If either of these are the case then given the resources he has available to him he has failed and should probably seek employment elsewhere.
No, not at all - how on earth did you come up with that conclusion???? I think he's doing just fine, bit of a minor sticky patch recently but we still sit in the play-off places and within touching distance of the leaders so absolutely no need to panic or even question his appointment at all if you ask me, which I believe is what you did. Last night for example, we had 62% possession, 20 shots/6 on target against Leeds 4 shots/1 on target and only drew the game. Adams tried all of our available striking options during the match with Jerome, Lafferty, Hooper and Grabban all given the opportunity to take one of those many chances but they didn't in yet another match where we totally dominated possession suggesting we were set up well enough to control the game - how on earth can Adams be blamed for that and what more could he have done? And in response to your other question, yes I do think it would definitely been a better thread had it not involved the ludicrous and entirely unneccessary poll at the top, and had a more subtle title - something like "How do we think Adams is doing so far" for example. That would have been fine and a much more sensible way to approach it if you ask me, however as I probably should have learned to appreciate by now, it is an open forum and people are free to write and discuss what they want I guess. Doesn't mean I'm not allowed to think and say that I find it ridiculous however
Pretty much sums my views. We MUST start keeping clean sheets - what's happened to Cuellar?? We need to start scoring goals as well and I feel a lot of that is down to delivery as much as misfiring by our strikers. I don't see anything to be gained by sacking NA, but I hope he has learnt from last night that he needs to make changes to his starting 11 and use the aquad at his disposal.
I thought the title was in part a slight parody or joke relating to the way the similar Hughton thread ran and ran? That said it did have a tabloid sensationalistic feel to try and get a reaction. Bah!
Yeah, I must admit that's what I thought as well, hence my possibly OTT initial response when I realised it was a serious article.
