As regards Bobby Reid all I know is that last season he was emerging but this season he has not even got near the squad. And then when he went out on loan I feared that there might have been some sort of falling out. This almost certainly happened with Parish but there again that's the mangers job i.e. to manage. But at least he is not 3 stones overweight ......
3 or 4 down, how do you make that out? They had one goal and one golden opportunity that they should have scored.! We had one goal and one sitter we should have scored? (in the first half) I don't make that 3 or 4 down.? We battered them 2nd half... If you're not enjoying the football at Ashton Gate at the moment I don't think the games for you to be honest, its as good as its ever been now..
I wasn't sure about Cotterill's appointment, but have to say, at last we have a breath of fresh air at the gate. Good results and the players playing for the team, he also talks a good game and I enjoy his energy and enthusiasm. Ok, makes the odd decisions regarding subs, but if he was perfect he probably would be managing a bigger club. So long as he feels he's still learning then he will become a very good manager. It usually take's me a good chunk of the season to make my mind up regarding what the manager is trying to do....so far, out of 10....it's an 8 from me.......I hope him and the team keep up the good work.......still a very long way to go, but it's heading in the right direction!
Banksy...supporters always have the right to offer opinions. I have endured the last 5 seasons when games we should have won or drawn where we ending almost inevitably losing. This year in my opinion we were made to look average by MK Dons, Chesterfield and Leyton Orient yet we did not lose any of them and a lot of that was down to what I call luck i.e. missed opportunities by the opposition. I agree this season is much better but we don't seem to be hammering anyone. But as they say the table doesn't lie. I want to be convinced that we have a group of young players who have real talent and at the moment IMHO we are just a consistent but average side who are getting by on experience but yes there are 22 sides below us!!
gotta say we are a million times better than last year and six points clear at the top.we must be doing something right
3-0 Scores at home to Doncaster and away to Port Vale would suggest otherwise We've had several seasons of total and utter ****, so I am currently revelling in being top of the league and watching the rest try and catch us. We're not the finished article but we do seem to have belief and a togetherness that's been missing for years. Enjoy it
Your opinions are welcome and I will enjoy reading them, however I just cannot see how you could possibly justify a comment that we could have been 3 or 4 down in the first half last night? Do you honestly judge the progress we are making on whether we 'hammer teams' or not? I am constantly amazed at some of our fans expectation levels given our history and tradition, its not justified, but we are a work in progress, working towards some better days and at last some of us can see some light at the end of the tunnel but Real Madrid we are not.. Also you didn't explain your Bobby Reid comment? do you want him shown the door or breaking through to the first team?
We are all Bristol City fans and we all know that it can all come crashing down around our ears at any point. Even in the season we made the Championship play offs we were done 6-0 at Ipswich, and we all know that there are those games when everything goal bound ends up in the net and so giving the number of chances we concede there must be a risk of being hammered in one game but I wouldn't say we are average by any means. We've played almost 2/3rds of the teams in the division and we are unbeaten and top by 6 pts. I would say we are at least above average and if we end up still top after a difficult November I'm willing to upgrade to decent.
Happy with our position Happy with our lead Happy with SC Happy with our goal scoring But Very concerned about our habit of conceding Very concerned indeed
Precisely we are winning because we score more than the opposition. That's fine but when we move up a division teams will hammer us. My point is that significant improvements have been made but to many observers we are not the complete package. Really successful teams are built on a good defence and at the moment our's is just average. SC has certainly bought well (with Korey Smith being the pick of the bunch) but if we are to sustain the improvement he must shore up the defence and I believe this means buying. Very few clean sheets this year. As regards the Reid/Parish scenarios I believe as fans we are entitled to some background information. I didn't see Parish as so bad that he had to be shown the door and I just wonder if a Reid has "fallen out" with SC
I think if we should move up a division then the squad will be changed, it will also change if we don't move up a division, as players will be out of contract etc and they are always changes at the end of each season. What makes you think there has been a falling out with Reid? He's not good enough at the moment to get in the starting xi so he's been sent out on loan to get some competitive game time. Don't see any problem with that. Bryan and Burns done the same last season.
When we played on Tuesday there was only one player on our team at anytime who played alongside Stead, who only left a year ago. So it just shows what a merry go round of players we've had in 16 months
