Nah, bollocks. I'm not betting on it, so who gives a **** about being "realistic"? It's not about showing how good your crystal balls are, it's about showing real balls and getting behind your team.
being reaistic allows you lot to then go told you so misery guts while i whistle happily and avoids the steam from ears outbursts i see so regularly
Sort of agree with this. Part of the reason I no longer get agree when we play badly or lose is because my expectations aren't set as high. I watch football because I enjoy it so I try not to put so much dependence on the outcome nowadays. The last time I was angry after a game was the 2-0 loss to Chelsea towards the end of last season. I'd started to believe before that game and as the game was being played, my confidence grew and grew as there was no way Chelsea were going to score and it was heading for a 0-0. I was furious that we'd somehow lost despite Chelsea showing no interest in attacking for most of the game!
Equally, saying we will win doesn't mean I'm banking on it. I'm just cheering us on (and it was only a bit of banter, btw- don't take it too seriously). I don't see the point of being negative, myself. (It's not "realistic" at all, because realistically, almost anything can happen in football). I'm perfectly aware that we're up against it, but it's not in my nature to accept defeat before it's happened.
I wasn't taking it seriously hence the Besides, aren't you always banging on about whatever we say on here doesn't alter the grand scheme of things
I'm like that with most things. If people tell me a film is good, I won't like it because my expectations are too high. If someone tells me its **** you can guarantee I'll enjoy it. Maybe that's why I've loved watching Lost
Too ****ing right. Sod the jinxes, what we say doesn't affect what 20-odd people get up to miles away. But how we talk on here can affect each others outlook a little. I was just trying to rub mine off on people a little- in a manner of speaking.
well i was interested by the transfer thread today and the false 9 sterling thing. those affect far more than someone saying we'll win etc. thinking into reasons why things are the way they are or possible tactical solutions interest em far more than come on yew reds..... i've a light switch at 5mins to kick off that flips me into that mode.
Couldnt be bothered to trawl through 4 pages as I am really nervous about tomorrow. Really hope we can at least perform. On the bright side, Madrid have never beaten us. In fact they have never scored against us. Cant see that record standing after tomorrow. I have started rocking back and forth in my chair humming YNWA alone already. Hope the boys become men tomorrow and the crowd inspires them to realisation of what it is to play in the Liverpool red.
Really?? Anyway, I expect the players to be proper up for it tomorrow, but that annoys me at the same time, as we then get a pathetic performance at the weekend. No idea what team that will line up, nor do I know who I want, as long as Balotelli isn't there.
We have played 3 times. we won 1-0 in 81 cup final and beat them 1-0 and 4-0 back in 07. Crazy stat really.lol
I can only speak for me - so I will. I agree with saint that whatever we say only makes an impression on those of us who can be bothered to read it and then care to think about what they've read. I've no idea who will play or what the formation will be. What I do know is that I expect the players on the pitch to play for themselves, the team, the club and the supporters and put in the best shift that they are able. I only know that matches like this have always got us going - no matter what our league form was at the time. The romance and the history were enough to lift the game to a higher plane. So I want us all players and fans to stand true to that tradition. I want to hear the crowd chanting and singing like yesteryear and I want to see our Redmen show fight and skill in their endeavours to overcome a worthy opponent.
It was a nice record to have.lol You never know, we may show up in a way that none of us can currently envisage.
