I always get Cormac McCarthy mixed up with Carson McCullers, for some reason. The Heart is a Lonely Hunter is a good read. Whoever mentioned Mockingbird, that as well.

Got half way into The Crossing then had to move on to Moby Dick which I also didn't quite finish. I promised myself after dissertations and studying that I'd go back and finish those two - but still haven't.

I take it the "Moby Dick" you are referring to is the book about the white whale and not the DVD available from all good "Adult" outlets!

<yikes> yes the whale. Interesting fact: Starbucks coffee shops are named after a character in Moby Dick.

halcyon days those... lego, comics and no internet... a boy could be a lad without the bad influences of beckham and such metrowhatevers.

uk had a real army due to comic brainwashing too.

Starbuck chief mate on the Pequod, the ship that was chasing Moby Dick - and interestingly, Starbucks owner was going to call the coffee shops Pequods <ok>

  18. I'd say its a real army because we don't force people to join. everyone within is there through choice and a will to fight for their country.
