Went down the Gate today to collect my ticket for Bradford and thought I would buy my little French nephew a size 8 year old home shirt, out of stock! Which I suppose is a good thing, it means were shifting shirts, but the next stock is not due in till the end of Nov.? I thought the point of Bristol sports branded wear was to be able to react quickly to demand, so 8 weeks without the most popular size home shirt seems poor to me.

Also popped in the ticket office to enquire about premier seating and tickets for the next home game, they took my number and promised solemnly to phone me back this afternoon, that never happened either.

Everything is going so well at the moment I can't really get pissed about it, but still think its poor..

I've taken this from OTIB.... Answered by David Lloyd.

Before the season we ordered what we thought would be enough kids shirts for the season, based on sales in previous years. Due to our great form and the popularity of the new shirt, those have sold out already.

Under the Adidas deal, we needed to give 18 months notice of an order, which would have meant it would have been impossible to get any more in for this season. Now that Bristol Sport are in control of production, we have been able to order more, but there is still a 2-3 month turnaround. Orders have to be placed in bulk, and the entire fabrication and embroidery process still takes some time and can't be done overnight.

Fair enough I suppose but it still seems a long turnaround time for a few hundred shirts, they already have the pattern and printing set up etc? 3 months, I've seen houses built quicker than that..

I worked for a fashion retailer for a while.

We could get a piece of clothing from concept/design - made (in far east) - into shops in a 7 week period.

So yes 8 weeks for a garment already in production does sound a long time.

How long would it normally be for a garment already produced and just being re-ran?
