Unsung player so far, with all the attention being further upfield. However, he has slotted in brilliantly. I suppose I shouldn't be staggered by how Saints have managed to find such a good CB [and another in Florin Gardos, it appears], but I am. I am as aware of the Saints philosophy and policy as much as any other local fan, yet I am still slightly agog as to how we are doing this.
Typical of overseas people that they know a second language reasonably well. I'd love to see the stats on how many British people are bi-lingual.
The True Geordie gets his review in on some obscure 8-0 match:
Saints are basically Dagenham and Redbridge... but with Tadic, Pelle, Schneiderlin, Cork, Davis, Clyne, Bertrand, Alderweireld, Fonte, Forster, Long (plus Wanyama, Mane, and Mayuka).
You've got to hand it to this bloke. I've watched the full match twice and the highlights twice and I'm not sure if I'd have remembered it in that detail. Plus, his analysis is actually very good. Take out the language and the rant aspect of it, he is a better 'expert' than most of the ones you see on the national media.
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20141021-nathaniel-clyne-post-sunderland-home-2029768.aspx Clyne says Koeman has instilled a winning mentality into the team and he enjoyed being with the England squad although he didn't get a cap.
He uses prepared keywords and notes which he constantly refers to. He's also well rehearsed now. He's a very good speaker though. Course it helps that he presents his videos in his conversational language so that he is both at ease with himself and entertaining for the viewer.
Is that in the press now? I was looking for this story on here, as remembered I'd seen the guy ask Fonte for a memento in advance a few weeks ago. Thought it was posted on this board, but remembered just now that it was on Fonte's Instagram account. It was his first game, and he was seriously excited about it, and Fonte replied to him and said to get in touch after the game or something, or he'll leave a shirt with the staff. As the goals went in on Saturday, I was thinking about this guy every time - what a first game to come and watch after years of supporting from Australia! Don't know if he got Jose's too, or if Jose sorted it for Ryan to give him his.
Do we deserve to be the PL club with the lowest number of scheduled UK TV games this season, though (presumably along with Burnley)? I read that on here somewhere, and was backed with a link, but can't find it. I know all the games haven't been scheduled yet, but still, that's pretty shortsighted.
So joint least up to November, and I stand corrected - Burnley not in the five joint-least teams: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ch-sides-will-be-shown-the-least-9605265.html
I was amazed that no-one wanted the Spurs v Saints game. Although, as it turned out, glad they didn't.
I suspect the low number of Saints games televised may have something to do with our opposition as well...not a coincidence that they showed our Liverpool game (partly because of added spice). We are allowed a minimum number of games, so they tend to select the ones where we play a big club. We will get a few more slipped in if we carry on doing well (which we will ).
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ars-summer-ronald-koeman-bought-shrewdly.html Article from Mail comparing the players we bought and sold. Quite a positive piece, though it failed to point out that Lovren and Shaw haven't so far lived up to last season's promise.
I couldn't help noticing that this thread has had an incredible 22,000 views in just 7 days. Anyway, time for the next one Lambie?
Sunderland to refund match tickets, with unclaimed money going to a local hospice. You'd feel really mean reclaiming the money and robbing the hospice, wouldn't you? Poyet is having a go at the board...saying he puts the team on the pitch, but he will only take responsibility for that. Everything else is down to them...presumably for not spending or how they have spent the money. Exit strategy?
