That simply is correct, because i've been there and done it. I will say once again, its how it works, small groups of active people speak on behalf of loads of people sitting on their arses.
When I said with the club debt doubled, what I obviously meant to say was with the club debt doubled - since business genius (look at his cv) Mr Assem Allam took over.
Nope. Done it from both sides on several occasions. The big groups have a general policy, but with few exceptions, at a local level, it's the local groups and individuals that have far more clout and information. How much have the AA and RAC input into Castle Street or any other roads for that matter compared to local consultees? What about British Cycling or CTC's input into the cycling infrastructure? Contrast that to the protest groups set up for the incinerators, and look for the larger Environmental Groups involvement. Likewise with Siemens and the other large developments.
Your right, the Trust bought the final lot of shares in 2010. Just before they got into the Premier league.
You missed my point earlier when i said as well as a big issue it could also be a campaign for a school crossing patrol, no comment on the OSC having the ear of the club for years with a small membership. And yet you seem to get it with the protest group for the incinerators, a small group of people went off and did something for the benefit of many who couldn't be arsed. Thats the point i'm trying to get across, and its always like that. From the biggest i remember, the poll tax, to trying to keep the school crossing on Greenwood Ave.
And if you get shares which will cost you nothing as others will be paying will you pay the debt as well once your in.
Thanks for the further comments today. A few responses to those with direct relevance to the Trust’s draft vision, aims and objectives. Wade Wilson – the only way to influence the work that CTWD does, is to join up and elect the officers that best meet your needs. Could a future CTWD pursue issues that you believe in? Absolutely, if that is the majority wish of the membership. TigerFILEY (and 1-2 others) – the name of the Trust is very important, yes. On the one hand CTWD is a name that is strongly supported by our members that attended the FGM (noting of course, that this is only a small fraction of the total membership). On the other hand, the irony of an anti-name change supporters group changing its name is significant. And we aren’t convinced that renaming CTWD will make us instantly not-CTWD in the eyes of people that don’t like what CTWD currently stands for. The name of the Trust is something that is important to the current committee, indeed it is probable that it will be put to the vote amongst the full membership in the period between now and Trust being established. We will start a new thread on here soon asking for suggestions of what the name of the Trust could be, prior to any formal vote. TigerFILEY – “What happens if 18,000 fans join and a majority vote to support AA and a name change ?” Then that will be the position that CTWD will adopt. If that were to happen then a new committee would be needed. And frankly, we see no sign of this happening anytime soon! Despite what you will read on here and elsewhere from people that are NOT on the committee – CTWD remains supportive of Assem Allam’s ownership of Hull City, but implacably oppose the name change. Fez – yes, CTWD can only speak for its members. But experience elsewhere shows that a collective voice of like-minded supporters can be a powerful force. And in times of trouble (which won’t be caoming City’s way any time soon, we hope) a collective voice can help save a football club. The Trust is in it for the long term. DMD – having asked around, it appears that we don’t have a CTWD rep at tomorrow’s meeting. We have members of the CTWD committee invited in various other capacities, but CTWD never got a formal invite. We will be rectifying this. For future meetings we will try to put a discussion thread up to harvest views about the matters on the agenda. Mauled1904 – the details of CTWD’s vote on the formation of a merged Supporters’ Trust were publicised on late June, regrettably not on our website. The result was 617 for and 2 against the merger. DMD – what is a supporters’ trust? As others have said, that rather depends on the wishes of active members and the aims and objectives set at the outset. But general information about how Trust are generally formed and constituted can be found at the Supporters’ Direct website - http://www.supporters-direct.org/homepage/aboutsupportersdirect Obadiah – building community links is a key part of our vision for CTWD. Whether that extends to introducing Siemens to Hull City, we aren’t sure. We expect the person who will manage the Siemens plant will be aware of the football club and able to contact them himself. Happy Tiger – this thread is to discuss the draft aims and objectives, not be a general forum for issues to do with CTWD. A number of your points raised don’t fit that purpose. However – we do know where our members come from (overwhelmingly HU postcodes), that local membership has helped us to frame some of our aims and objectives. The CTWD name is dealt with above, your input is welcomed and the irony of changing name is not lost on us. The aim to bring together stakeholders is an important one for the future – we have spoken to the Council a few times, their door is clearly open to Hull City. But clearly our communication channel with Assem Allam is now closed for the time being. Our aims are not all about doing things now, we want to prepare for the future too. Finally, there is a thread on CI now (it took a while to setup the login with the site owner) and also on Amber Nectar. Plus we’ve posted on our Twitter and Facebook sites. Fez – regarding dialogue with the OSC, our chairman has been trying to contact their chairman for several weeks and had no reply. We can reassure that if there is any reluctance to work together as supporters’ groups, it is not coming from CTWD. We will try and do these messages on a daily basis, so please be patient when waiting for a reply. Thanks.
The OSC aren't a group that deal with fans issues. I was responding to your observation that the authorities ask groups like the AA to get the opinion on roads and British Cycling to get a cyclists view rather than talking to every cyclist. I was pointing out that the Authorities don't rely on the larger groups, an individual with a valid point can be far more powerful. However, if a group forms and steps forward claiming to represent a section of society, it needs to be able to support that claim with evidence.
I didn't ask what a supporters trust was, I asked for an idiots guide to the one proposed. I also think that it's wrong to limit these questions solely to the aims and objectives, as all answers can be deemed relevant in understanding the wider thinking and processes at work.
We agree with you that the work of the Trust will be defined by its members, specifically its members that are active in influencing the Trust's direction. Sorry to miss you off!
So bit of a smug answer and now you've asked around you dont have a rep there. "DMD â having asked around, it appears that we donât have a CTWD rep at tomorrowâs meeting. We have members of the CTWD committee invited in various other capacities, but CTWD never got a formal invite. We will be rectifying this. For future meetings we will try to put a discussion thread up to harvest views about the matters on the agenda. How will you rectify this as i dont believe ctwd will get a formal invite.
Who is the Not606 rep there and who decided? Whoever it is will probably be representing the largest group of people yet other than some individuals attending, I don't recall seeing a thread asking for questions.
Thanks for the couple of messages, but my 'what' post, was actually an addendum to the earlier post, which just happened to come immediately befoer/after the city til we die post. It wasn't actually in respone to the city til we die post..... Put it down to my **** internet connection!
