He's the epitome of inconsistent for me. On Saturday he played a truly stunning crossfield pass out right (to Elmo I think) and then followed it up with possibly the worst free kick delivery I have ever seen. And that summed him up in a nutshell.
Oh aye I wasnt slating him, he did some brilliant little plays and shifting of the ball to get us out of a tight spot. I was just saying he was inconsistent.
He wasn't that inconsistent. I don't remember him doing anything obviously poor, apart from the free-kick.
I have never been a huge fan of his free kicks generally. He obviously has a lot of slow twitch muscle generally, and this seems to be reflected in his striking a dead ball - he just never seems to generate pace/whip.
For almost the whole time Huddlestone has been here, people have been harking back to an earlier time in his City career and saying he was better then. At the moment people are saying he was better last season, but for the second half of last season everyone was saying he hadn't been the same since his haircut goal in December. Around that time people were saying he was a lot better in his first few games. I think he's becoming the typically undervalued holding midfielder. He makes loads of tackles and interceptions as well as the threat he offers on the ball but unless he scores a worldie someone always says he's been out of sorts lately. Oh and "Meyler was woeful."
Meyler is rather undervalued as well. He's scored some pretty important goals and he's always put a shift in whenever he plays.
