They are both not really good enough, but Jnr is much better than Phillips. Jnr is improving; whereas, Phillips seems to get worse.
Prior to Matty Phillips injury I would have said Phillips. This season I think that Hoilett is the better player and deserves the nod.
Both players are from Blackburn and Blackpool in what world could you expect anymore. Phillips doesn't look to have it IMO Hoilett is the better of the two IMO who should we have brought … Routledge or Sinclair IMO … in fact ion here who would swap them in a blink of an eye Phillips is one of Harold's buys and at the time Harold said he was going to make him into a great player who could be in the England set up Wake up lads and look at how these players have been brought into the club and why? There is no system just a good list of reasonable players I guarantee the lot of you that Mark Hughes will easily ellipse Harold's career twice over and on here posters called him clueless any one taking stock yet?
I seem to recall some good signings that we made from those two clubs, Blackpool especially. Although I agree with some of your statement I do feel that you are being very disparaging to lower division clubs, & we were at the same level as these two last season!
Isla looked a better right sided wide midfield player than either Phillips or Hoillet first half yesterday when he had Ned behind him.
Matt Phillips genuinely looks like he doesn't really want to be out there playing at the minute. His confidence is shot. He ducks out of headers, can't tackle, is afraid to take on a man and loses the ball too easily He also looks like he spent too much time in the gym over the summer as his posture doesn't look natural. Junior Hoillett is a much better player and must be scratching his head over how he didn't get a game ahead of Phillips and Traore on Sunday.
He did bottle it yesterday. You'd of thought he would come out for that second half inspired by what he saw in the first. Not a chance. He was overwhelmed by the opposition and lacked conviction and confidence. He lacks the footballing intelligence for this level I'm afraid. He plays with fear and gives the impression that he doesn't deserve to be at the top table.
It's a pointless argument anyway. Neither of them are up to the standard required. Phillips came on and added nothing whatsoever on Sunday. We are where we are, because we are who we are. Cast-offs Utd.
