Whats the point of coming on a Liverpool board and 'trying' to be clever by putting your views on here which are clearly biased. We all know we paid £35million for Carroll and we got £50million for Torres. So thats Torres = £15million and Andy Carroll. Use your brain and tell me, in the last half of the season, who scored more goals? I think you'll find that player had also played alot less games because of injury problems. Now, based on that and the fact Torres is 27 and Carroll is 5 years younger at 22, which one seemed like the good deal? Exactly, Carroll. His a good player who's shots are always underrated, and me and my friends have always said it, that was before he scored for England, and before he scored his first Liverpool goal (As soon as he struck the ball I knew it was going in). We signed Carroll for £35million in January, its now July, get over it, its not your money.
Lil Jatt. Good point. I asked this question before, which is more risky?£35 million on 22 year old Andy Carroll or £31 million on 27 year old Dimitar Berbatov/Only an idiot would say £35 million on 22 year old Andy Carroll. Both were significantly over-priced,but which one carried the most risk? One player 7 years short of his prime,or a player 2 years short of his prime.I know hindsight is a wonderful thing and Berbatov had a ''purple patch'' last season.Maybe just maybe Andy Carroll this coming season will have a similar purple patch.Who knows.Nobody betted on Berbatov have a purple patch after his first two relatively disasterous seasons.
Who's trying to be clever. I take it by clearly biased you mean I'm not being all singing and dancing about Liverpool. I think you will find my post was in repsonse to the actual thread. I don't think either of you or Chelsea particularly got a good deal. If you want to judge both players over half a season then good for you , however I'll reserve judgement until after this coming season. As your 'getting over it' it is on topic for the thread. KPR brought Berbatov into it from 3 years ago yet it's our fans that need to get over it ? You think you got a good deal, I don't. Does this mean I'm trying to be clever or merely seeing things differently to you ( which you don't seem to like ) ?
Carroll is not a 35 million pound striker whether for the future or not, Ive watched him loads of time in the championship and Premier and there is no way he is good enough for a club the size of Liverpool he will have about 3 good games in 10 which for Liverpool well will not take you where you want to be. He has niggling injuries now and this is due to excessive drinking and these will only get worse the older he gets, his drinking sessions are comparable to the famous Gazza drinking sessions but unlike Gazza Carroll only has a tenth of his ability he will be out of Liverpool within 2 years, bookmark this if you want. DG>>>>>Always right.
King Eric. Its your fellow fans that constantly come here and say that ''Andy Carroll was not worth the money''.I never suggested he was,as I don't think for one minute he was either.Nor do I think that Wayne Rooney was worth the £27 million Man United paid for him when he was 18 either. I however, used Berbatov as an example. Both were/are risks. My question is,who signed the biggest risk.Man United signing Berbatov aged 27 for £31 million,2 years short of his prime,Or Andy Carroll aged 22 7 years short of his prime.Simple comparison. Both were over-priced admittedly. Then again so was Torres whom we sold to Chelsea. He was never worth the £50 million Chelsea paid.He was in fact,I'm guessing worth a fraction over the £20.2 million we paid for him...if even that.In 2009,He may have been worth £50 million, but after his performances in the World Cup and from August to January in the premiership. Not a chance was he worth £50 million. And from January to May,He looked more like a £5 million striker than a £50 million striker...and thats being kind.
Ok in terms of investment Liverpool may have got a better deal due to age, but time will tell as Carroll has to perform on the highest level consistantly. In terms of risk, Liverpool has definetly taken the biggest risk - Beratov was a proven international and proven in the Premiership - Carroll has yet to do either of these ( although he may in time )
"Sorry boss,i cant turn up for training today" "Why son?" "I've got a bad case of Nuclearbroonitus" Jeez,Terry McDermott drank about 20 pints a day and smoked yet turned up for training and never missed a match due to his off field habits.
Different era, different times different player Terry Mac was class Andy isnt. Yup due to the high intake of methanol players are more prone to niggling injuries like strains, musclar injuries also, especially when training at the highest level ie: Today, players games are very fast, sharp turning lots of off the ball movements and turn of pace, yes niggling injuries.
Page Moss. Lets use a more recent example. Gianluca Vialli smoked cigars,He also drank like a fish. And that was as recently as 1998.
A hangover is still a hangover no matter the era or the person. Niggling injuries have also existed since Adam and Eve were around but i cant comment on "musclar" injuries.
You really are ****ing bizarre! High intake of methanol will give you more than a feckin pulled muscle!
Vialli didnt drink to the standards Gazza or Andy does, and when he did drink it was mostly red wine which is great for lowering your blood pressure and that is why people take a glass of red after a stressful day. Dimitar isnt the greatest of fitness players though is he but he has talent that more then makes up for the workrate Andy has to put in every game to make his mark on it. He cant keep up that workrate every game the way he handles himself with drink. DG>>>>Always right.
Wazza stays out till 5am(and even gets caught pissing in the nightclub carpark) Carroll is a good lad,he goes to bhoyzone concerts with the boss,he just has'nt had the right boss or mentor until now.
I hope so, as we dont want him to go the same way as Gazza, god I remember watching him for the first time against Forest had Neil Webb chasing shadows all day nutmegging him and then running past him and patting him on the head. Good luck anyway for the season. >>>DG>>>Always right. PS. Talking about Gazza there my friends.
What, so getting slaughtered on red wine is good for you? Surely all that methanol will cause a pulled muscle?
And an elbow injury due to lifting and putting down the glass, then the stitches for falling on the broken glass when you fall over rotten drunk with the glass in your hand. Yep DG that methanol has a lot to answer for.
