I think people are being a little harsh on Garth. Firstly on Footie focus he didn't outright dismiss us as having no chance of europe (like Lawro would) and even said that he thinks CL might be a bit too far for us. Secondly, he calls our ex charisma and personality free manager 'potter chino'. Not just accidentally on occasions.......every time............which is great.
Has anyone checked out Consortiums posts on the Guardian (10 talking points....) worth a look. Enjoy.
Yes, he's quite a contributor. Trouble is, you need to set aside an entire afternoon to digest all the stuff he writes. He never writes a couple of sentences like this.

Interesting article but wrong in saying Clyne scored his first PL goal, I believe that came in the 4-1 win against Villa under Nigel.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/belgrade-bedlam-sunderland-shellacking-dusan-4465507 Bit about Dusan, made worthwhile for the use of the word shellacking. Dusan also admits he is quite good.
Apparently a Sunderland fan fell asleep when the score was 1-0 and woke up when it was 6-0. Needless to say he felt he was still having a nightmare.
Oh yeah, I know about that stuff. Purely on the fact they won the First Div 6 times...the last of which was 100 years ago (sorry once again in '1936) Yes, in their case "vintage" pedigree (which is what that site measures). I don't discard history (to do so is forbidden in football) but I'd priorities more a recent history...like living memory; and tangibles like current finances, modern facilities, present youth setup, latter day attendances, internationals, revenue etc. We are a modern club and this time, on the field, we're here to challenge the old guard.
I agree that is no point going on about us not getting our due. There will always be someone perceived as not giving us our due, but there are an embarassment of other outlets singing our praises - and we are clearly not ignored or underappreciated. What is utterly criminal - and this is denying the neutral fans a huge pleasure, as a result of the mainstream media completely misjudging/mis-predicting our season - is the lack of Saints games on live TV. Goals aplenty, amazing football - and the wider world doesn't generally get to see it. Clearly saving our allotment for the relegation run-in towards the end of the season.
We have been shown a few times on Setanta (sp?) but can only receive that in Ireland. Let's face it no media outlet can please Saints fans, but I don't feel we have been ignored in the last couple of years. In fact, I get the impression that there is a lot of goodwill directed towards us. Yes, there was a lot of wild surmise in the summer...but we were all sucked into that as well. A team like us having a real punt at success makes good copy, so I'm sure the journos appreciate not having to write about the same old clubs all the time (contrary to what some think).
Oh I agree with you. We are on the up, they are on the wane as are Villa but as things stands they are bigger than us globally by a margin. However if we carry on being the hipster team and everyone's second team plus stay in that top 7 or 8 elite then in the modern era of media it will not take long at all for us to have become bigger than the Leeds' Villas' Forests' etc that haven't done anything for ages.

It's games like this that get attention round the world...useful if you are trying to build up the commercial side and get fans from abroad. Games like this are traps that suck kids into being Saints fans....unaware of the pain that we have experienced over the years. Yes, little lads and lasses, there are no downsides to being a Saints fan
Confirming something previously posted...Australian Saints fan on Sky showing off his Bertrand shirt. Going to cost him...as we now need him to come to every home game as he is obviously a good luck charm
