It seems like Liverpool are the team good players go to rot.

To be fair, we all thought he was the one that made the difference last season. Turns out that Fonte is the leader at the back for us.

Also, there's no leadership from your keeper.

Lovern took 50 mins to go fight with Zamora.... At least he did. Nobody else got to grips with their man

  5. The scapegoating of Migs gets on my nerves, he's a decent keeper; good shot stopper, deals with crosses and can use his feet too. However the one thing I wouldn't argue with when people compare him to Reina is what you've just said; leadership! A keeper needs to be vocal, they need to keep their defence organised and focused, Migs doesn't do this at all.

Not sure on that one. He's improving to be fair but still shaky when it comes to distribution.

Agree on the rest though. I only jokingly mentioned Valdes when he came for that cross which they hit the bar from but apart from that he pulled off some decent saves and got on the end of a few crosses. Mentioned in match thread he was my MOTM for us (apart from Caulker and Dunne)

Lovren hasn't made the step up yet but doesn't help that yet again we didn't have a settled back 4. we found it hard enough with one last year but keep swapping the full backs isn't helping anyone. Not sure what was wrong with the Spanish M's at RB & LB but pick 2 and stick with them until they hav a few bad games and make you chance something.

Give the defence a bit of stability.

  7. I think he is good with his feet. He's not done anything wrong as far as I can remember. I think we've been spoilt in this department with Reina; he's was/is the best keeper in the world with the ball at his feet!

He's ok. He's not the worse but even comparing him to others in the Prem he looks poor.

Vorm, Lloris, Cortouis, De Gea, Hart.

Just a quick list of keepers with far better distribution.

not having a go, his strengths are in other areas and I've said before, I'd rather my keeper be able to save a ball than pick a man from 50 yards <ok>

  9. He's a bit like Sakho; looks uncomfortable on the ball but rarely gives it away despite being in tight situations at times.

We'll have to age to disagree <ok>

He's fine with it at his feet, it's more when he has goal kicks or can't play a short pass that's the issue. He tries to pick out a man on the wing and will either under hit or over hit a lot of the time.

  11. Yeah, he's poor at the longer balls, I'll give you that. He's not got a lot to aim for either mind

Whats most annoying is all the money spend on the defence in the past two years and its still as **** as ever. In fact it looks worse than last year which takes some doing.
I fear we are in the same situation as Arsenal, no real brilliance in CB with players playing as a DM that aren't really DM's. However their forward line is actually doing the stuff, where as we're stuck with Baloshite.

  14. Migs: £11m
    Sakho: £17m
    Lovren: £20m
    Moreno: £14m
    Total: £62m

Yep, that's scandalous! Some clubs (Southampton for example) can build a entire team with that <laugh>

Arsenal's defence was poor after splashing a bit of cash but they left them to gel for a season and they looked much better last season (until we turned them over). Maybe our defence just needs time too? (and a leader)

Time to gel yes. But Rodgers keeps rotating.

Rafa loved rotation. He change some players every match and wasnt scared to chop and change. But his back 4 was always the same. Arbeloa Carragher Agger Aurelio (apart from when Agger was injured of course...). Mascerano and Alonso were ever present in front of them to. His defensive record was great.

I saw another point once saying that Ferguson never rotated his back 4 during the season unless he had to.

  16. Aurelio was injured more than Agger <whistle> But yes, you're right <ok>

I saw the line-up today and three of the back four were regulars last season #doomed

Lovren is a poor defender - he made a lot of mistakes last season as well, but were masked because he had two very good midfielders in front of him in Wanyama and Schneiderlin.

What is bizarre is that Rodgers spends £20m on a defender who plays on the same side as Sakho - he should have been looking for a partner for him, not replacing him. Absolutely ridiculous decision to sign Lovren and makes no sense whatsoever.

And Migs made some good saves yday but still a poor performance - distribution was off, concedes possession, rooted to his line and it causes panic between the central defenders who want him to come and collect the ball but doesn;t.

so is it time to bring clarkey back?

anyone know what he is doing, in work, not doing anything, cheers.

looks like we have too many players just picking up their wages and doing **** all to justify it, an shambles.

No - he's overrated. Our defence wasn't that great when he was at the club. Prefers to play the deep line which isn't suited to our style.

Yes, we may have conceded less goals but we still conceded nonetheless and we couldn't score any goals.

    fair enough.

just curious, if i said to everyone what would you choose a 1-0 or a 5-4 result, would most people say 1-0?

i ask as brendan is an attacking minded manager but i watched kopkids( dont ask channel hoping lol) and came across marsh and pascoe interview on there, and pascoe said he would rather a 1-0, to me that sounds like a defensive minded person and what we would expect off mourinho type manager, just curious if brendan and pascoe works, maybe it should be brendan and carra, or brendan and gerrard?

i would take the 5-4 result everyday personally, at least its entertaining to watch, we have lost that somehow this season, and i dread each ruddy game that comes along.
