I seem to remember doing some design work on a new Tesco store in Dorchester at Weymouth Avenue back around 1990 and if my memory serves me correct it was on the site of the old Dorchester Town football ground, the 'deal' being that Tesco's build here with Dorchester Town FC having a bright new stadium built down the road as part of the 'bargain'. Nice work if you can get it eh !
I also live in Dorch. They were relegated from Conference South last season and are bottom half in the Southern Prem (or whatever it's called) this year Financial trouble means they do not have as strong a side as when they knocked out Plymouth a couple of seasons ago The ground is decent enough - in fact league football has been played there - both Bournemouth and Yeovil have used it for home games while their grounds were out of action. Delsey was right - it was built when Tesco's was built on the old Avenue ground. Enjoy your day.
Dorset Echo published 17 10 14 (thats not today, but last Friday, 2 days before today) GRAHAM Kemp has warned his players not to let the lure of next weekendâs clash with Bristol Rovers affect their performances in the two big league games between now and then. The Magpies welcome Rovers to the Avenue in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup but before that they have Southern Premier Division fixtures against Hitchin and Burnham to deal with. âEveryone has got a chance to play against Bristol Rovers but only if they play well before that. âIf we lose the next two league games and donât play well I could give the young lads a go and let them enjoy it.â I like the âEveryone has got a chance to play against Bristol Rovers ' I might take my boots along!
**** off! I was sincere in copying that from the Echo. Thank you for your apology and I accept the terms for posting on the rovers board of not posting boobs or minge.
I was trying to keep to the thread before you distracted me. Anyway, back to the thread please. The Magpies normally get 200 -300 watching, but maybe 230 at the most being the home fans. The last time I went at the start of the season, adults £10 and kids free! You have an area to smoke on the terrace and take your pint out to watch the game. Car park £1. This may change on Saturday and stricter rules brought in and the locals will not be riding their horses to the match as advised by the RSPCA.
We been given an allocation of 2700. 200 all ticket for the main stand which is just for consessions and families only. Dorchester are charging us £15.00 for adults, £10.00 for 60+ and £8.00 for U16's. 2500 pay on the day for the terracing area. Dorchester are charging us £13.00 for adults, £8.00 for concession and £5.00 U16's. I think its a big mistake for making it pay on the day! If more that 2500 gasheads turn up, I could see this happening.... please log in to view this image
'main stand' - there is only one stand for sitting, the other side is covered, behind one goal covered and the Tesco end is the open end. I do hope the vile bunch don't ruin our beautiful county town! Don't forget the direct train to Dorchester west and then a nice 10 minute walk that can pass by a few pubs before an afternoon of horse punching etc
