**** it mate, I'm over it, and hopefully now it's clear that we need 2 new CB's. Seems, bizarrely, that nobody at the club that matters had noticed this.

**** happens from time to time, you just hope it doesn't happen to your club, this time it did. Awful, but hopefully we benefit from it along the line.

I'm over it too, whacked out the 808 state last night in humorous defiance :p

Most assume that Poyet being unhappy with the window was down to not getting Borini, I've always maintained it was the defencive situation and I've been conveying my worries about only having 6 defenders at the club since. It's a Congerton/Short issue for me. We need two cbs and at least one fullback that's versatile to cover left and right.

My question is GG, who make the calls on signings and resignings? Did they sign up JOS based on his goal against Germany? Like I know Gus has a say but for me OSHEA and brown won't last a season in this league big call I know especially as I love Wes. Was pissed when Brighton boy came on for him. What I will take out from this result is it's nice to sit in the other seat, I'm frothing at the lips to see how Gus, the players respond to this! It's their time, show the club and fans your loyalty, desire & commitment! <cheers>

Stuck with just 4 defenders for the next two games at least. :(

They owe every sunderland fan for this.... But they particularly owe those who were there. Massive journey for an absolute debacle. If I was one of those players, I would offer every fan a refund out of my pocket. I'm a pro singer and have often turned up to a gig not being 100% and not put on a great show. I offer the location a freebie to rebuild the relationship. Money back would probably go a little way towards that

    I agree 99% mate.

All I would say is that I'd rather see the players make a significant donation to a Sunderland based charity.

I make the choice to travel to games as I'll be doing for Leicester ....... if we lose then that's my problem, I don't expect to pay extra when we win away at Chelsea <ok>

We're not Mags and I wouldn't want Sunderland supporters to benefit from this, just my humble opinion.

Yeah mate I've noticed over the wknd that fans are split over the refund scenario! Personally I think the players should pay for the tickets and visit a retirement/youth center and make them a cuppa! What is it with our mentality?

I said on the JOS thread I was utterly bewildered by the new deal, unless it's a step down to coaching based one.

He is, as I always maintain, a good captain, but he is slow, he doesn't react, and when the chips are down, his head goes down.

Only Catts & Fletcher kept going for me, and by the way, Wickham, we should have ripped West Hams mitten off for £6million IMO, as we will not see that money for him again.

He will never, ever be a top striker.

Thing is there's losing and capitulating. There were players yesterday, in the second half, who looked like they didnt want to try. I can accept losing to some extent but losing 8-0 and not trying is totally different.

Not playing on the wing anyhow! Can't see how you can say that about a player who has only twice played up front as a striker this season. Wickham's issue yesterday was tracking back. Defensively we were exposed on both wings. Buckley and Wickham did nothing defensively.

Dunno mate, I've been in situations when there's been a definite plan with everyone aware of what's needed.

When it starts to fall apart there's a domini effect and you can see people looking sideways searching for guidance.

If it doesn't come the situation can soon disintegrate and people start running in all directions without any common purpose.

The tube station platform at Chelsea in 1986 was a typical example <laugh>

I'm not basing it on yesterday mate, I'm basing it on his entire time here.

I don't know, as a man who attends or watches in full 99.9% of our games, where the impression he will ever be anything more than bog standard comes from.

I can say that as I have watched the lad huff and puff and do very little, and as soon as he makes one good touch or scores a goal he's the son of Pele.

I agree, there's folk who want him to sign at his demands. I find that shocking. Can't wait till Gus has a couple of his own strikers to choose from. I'd love Gyan back but that would never happen.

Dont think Saints fans in general have any issues at all with Sunderland - we share red & white stripes after all. However we all have a tw** or two in our midst.

Coming back to our lack of full back covers we did bomb a good one out in the Summer and replaced him with an injury prone one and a rookie.

Bardo turned a contract down, he wanted to leave. Can't put a gun to his head.

Fully understand that, but the league we would have been in governed the pay packet. He seemed to be happy here until last minute so makes me wonder how determined we were to keep him.
