Am I the only person on the planet who thinks Phillips is a better choice than Hoilett
He is lively, the best crosser in the team, can shoot and runs down far less blind alleys
Not the finished article I agree but I am happy with his game time ahead of Hoilett

Tight call for me. Not 100% sure on either at the moment TBH. Different strengths.

I thought he was one of our poorer players today. Loads of speed but he doesn't seem to use that as much as he should.

I don't think this is the best day to put that theory forward.

Not only was he very poor today but he chickened out of tackles & ducked under headers. Both of those two are far better players than Ainsworth or Rowlands but they totally lack their courage.

I'd have Gazza and Rowly over those two every day of the week...

    Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On what planet could Phillips be a better player than Hoilett? Only planet Harry I suppose who clearly doesn't rate Junior.

As Tel says, Phillips was again awful today when he came on, chickening out of challenges and having the first touch of a zebra with 6 legs!!
He was also very lazy and jogged back every time Liverpool broke away. Hoilett always works back and is far more of a threat going forward, not to mention that he's twice as quick over the first few yards!

Lively?!! About as lively as a corpse!!

I'm simply amazed that anyone can rate Phillips above Hoilett!

No you're not, I'm with you. I like my widemen to be old fashioned wingers and to take on their man and put in crosses; Hoilett does not do that, Phillips does. Last season it took him a fair number of matches to find his form, and then he demonstrated that he adopted the club's ethos by playing a couple of very good matches before limping off injured for the rest of the season. However Phillips' confidence looks very low to me, I'm not sure we can afford the time to re-build it.

Martin Rowlands, QPR legend and all round footballer and in my humble opinion a far player than Phillips or Hoilett.

I like the lad but he can't cut it at this level. Not enough end product.

We still only have 4 points.

I have to say that I agree with this appraisal.

Phillips showed a couple of flourishes when he first came on but he faded very quickly thereafter and really disappeared without a trace. In fact, he was probably our worst player today. Based on recent performances, I'd pick Hoilett ahead of him not least because Junior sprints back to cover breakaways whereas it doesn't appear that Phillips can be a***d to do so and we were caught out twice, TWICE, today by breakaways. Phillips had a very poor 45 minutes and did nothing to convince me he's any where near back to the form that he is capable of.

I think Jnr has more about him as a player but you have to admit that for all his pace and directness, his end product is poor

Thought he did all right, beat defenders on the outside and got in crosses which was the way to go with OBZ, Charlie and Liverpool's weakness the aerial ability of their CB's. Hoillet goes inside mainly and his crosses go to defenders or out for goal kicks .

He is the player who frustrates me the most out of the current squad.

When he came on he worked hard for 10 mins or so then faded. But overall I dont rate him at all tbh. Hoilett is far far better.

Phillips is so stupid sometimes it beggars belief really. Shows no intelligence when playing and chooses the wrong pass most times.

It was Hoilett's end product that won us the penalty in the play off semi and got a cross in that led to BZ's goal in the final.
He is twice as quick as the lumbering Phillips over 5 yards and scares the hell out of defenders, putting them on the back foot as soon as he gets the ball.

I'll never understand the disliking of Junior.

I like him Col, I like any player who has the ability to take on defenders but our coaching staff need to work tirelessly on his crossing

He fought all the way for that goal, but his cross went as usual to the Only Derby player in their box.

Oslo..............it wouldn't have got anywhere near the penalty area had it been Phillips out there. He'd never have shown that same determination to win the ball and at least get it into the danger area!!

    You can't love
Adel for what he did 3 years ago
Hoilett for 15 seconds work at Wembley

I'm not saying I dislike Hoilett I'm just talking long terms futures & youth etc etc

    For the oldies
