Bergy, Derby Dales, Castleton, Hope Valley, 140 mile round trip, magic day. Stopped for fish and chips in Belper on way back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is, Bando, but it's a bit hard on the wrist's, Ducati's dont like commuting, much nicer on the open road.
Sounds like a great run Ernie. Have you ever tried the A54? - The Buxton to Congleton road via Wildboarclough is one of the best little blasts in England (south of the Manchester Sheffield line at least). It's better than the 'Cat & Fiddle' which has now been completely emasculated with a 50mph limit and average speed cameras: the result of earning the official title of Britain's most dangerous road - thanks to the biker death toll.
Is that the Snake Pass? I have a love/hate relationship with that road, if I am driving I love it, but if I am a passenger I always feel sick.
Sorry if I'm leading this thread on a little excursion but I'll point the finger at Ernie if necessary. Snake Pass (A57) is nearby but further north. The A54 is shorter but much more fun. Another good road was the A5004 - once again, before destroyed by draconian (my opinion) speed limits.
We used to go up to our late friends' farm for decades near Kirkby Lonsdale (now run by sons). The A65 Skipton to M6 was always a mad death run for the ageing bikers. We'd see them chatting on Devils bridge. Quite a number became casualties I gather.
Ernie, in recent years I'm actually wearing out black ties. Note to self- try to ignore the next few deaths.......
Number 20 please, in the optimistic hope that the guy who changed his mind and picked 22 made a big mistake!
I think it's a european directive to ruin any decent stretch of road motorists enjoy driving down. My favourite was the stretch of the N340 between Benalmadena and fuerengirola, the perfect twisty fast section with a perfect camber, many times my friends and raced down it at night, only to discover a few years later that they put about 10 huge roundabouts in it and ruined it forever. bastards.
