I thought McCarthy did really well. Looked assured and made a couple of really good saves. But do we keep him in or go for the more experienced Green? I'm inclined to keep faith with the defence and keeper that started (injuries permitting). Thoughts?

Stay with McCarthy as we are home, seriously hoping Onouha is fit because he was excellent today.

Dunno. Think Green might have saved the one they actually scored.

McCarthy. Better command in the air, just as good shot stopper as Green, and the better keeper in all honesty.

    Easy choice.

No doubts for me, McCarthy every time. Bigger than Green, better shot stopper and commands the 6 yard box better. He's an England keeper of the future.

Deflection took it way from McCarthy other wise he would have got it.

Give Mac a run in the side now....great to have two top keepers fighting for one spot.

Why should Green be dropped, he's done nothing wrong. McCarthy will take over from Green sooner or later that's why we bought him, but he will have to bide his time.

we wanted Rio dropped he was injured so HR had no choice
felt it was time to try McCarthy ,Green was unwell so HR had no choice
Nico unfit so HR was forced to change
Yun got his 1st taste of the Prem because of changes
it seems ever so slowly WE the fans have got the 11 on the pitch we wanted ,HR has had no choice in the matter (well that's the way it has seemed) and today when I saw the squad I was confident this was as close to a perfect squad we could pick with the exception of Barton coming back in
if we can put on as good a performance today against Villa and take the 3 points I think it's finally clicked and we will work up the table

    This.

Green has let in a couple of very soft goals and McCarthy simply looks the better keeper to me.

McCarthy pulled off a couple of truly outstanding saves and he look very assured throughout: a vey impressive debut. I was at the match and, in real time, I didn't find him at fault in any way for any of the goals (two were own goals for Christ's sake). He's the man in possession so I think he should retain the jersey.

Green hasn't done too much wrong BUT this is the first time McCarthy has played, to get a proper gauge on him, we need him to put a couple of games together.
It would be wrong to not play him straight away.

Spot on for me too. I think he could earn us points throughout the season.

Both solid goalkeepers and Green hasn't done anything that warrants losing his place. But I'd like to see McCarthy retain his place. Coped very well with everything thrown at him yesterday, two own goals and he would have saved Coutinho's attempt if it wasn't for that cruel deflection.

Biggest difference between the two goalkeepers is that I see McCarthy as a potential match winner. McCarthy reminds me of a Julio Cesar with a command of his area.

McCarthy was good yesterday and no goalkeeper cant prevent three own goals in a match!!! Yes, that coutinhos goal was deflected from Caulker too.

Now that McCarthy 'has the jersey' so to speak, I'd say he keeps it until he warrants losing it, or until Green's training performances make him a cert.
