Arsenal fans only know extreme happiness or extreme anger when it comes to their team, very few of them sit somewhere in between like the majority of fans from most other clubs.

What I have lost passion for is the shapeless style of football we play. It's not nice to watch and hasn't been since the 08 season

Funny how united fans comes on here and lecture us about demanding success. I wonder whether United fans would have stuck to Wenger for 5years without winning anything? I seem to remember united fans calling for Fergie's head when he had not won anything for a couple of seasons. So please do not come on here and lecture us about loyalty or expecting success. I think our fans have been really patient in the current circumstances, and really do not know any fans in the top5 who would have endured what we have without complaining.

You have been spoilt to be honest ... you have NEVER experienced a BAD season so have no idea what one looks like. You have in 17 years seen ... a double season, 2 other prem titles, a CL final, 2 or 3 other Fa cup wins, a couple of league cup finals, and have not finished lower than 4th.

If you have lost your passion it is because you have a lack of perspective. I aint slagging you off by the way...I just honestly think that as you have not experienced near relegation, no european football etc. that your expectations are so high that you are easily disappointed

So you would settle for exciting high scoring games where you come mid table?

I can understand your position and the disappointment seems to be shared by many if not most. I'll admit to having a similar feeling of resignation and apathy as the game unfolded yesterday. It's looking more likely by the week that the club won't match what was achieved last season (which sets quite a high bar considering it was the best the team has done points-wise in six years and trophy-wise in nine) which is hard to defend in the face of a second season of a far more liberal transfer policy. If things carry on as they have over the last few months then change will be required, though I can't see it being forced.

In his defence, Wenger is regularly pulled up for being inept both tactically and in the transfer market, yet he still manages to get the team to perform better than most. He must have some nous - more than most - in at least one of those areas if he can get the team into the UCL every season. I also can understand why he might want to be in charge of the club now that it's got far more manoeuvrability in the transfer market considering the amount of time he had to be more conservative. However, he's going to have to pull something special out of the hat if he's to achieve much this season after such a poor start and my faith in him doing so is pretty low.

There's a lot of truth in this. We have a high standard which was almost entirely created by the man who is most maligned at the club right now.

If the football is boring and passionless to watch... then what is the difference between finishing 4th the whole time or finishing mid-table?
