I know Wenger on a previous occasion complimented us on our scouting...which has been mentioned by Les Reed with reference to the Black Box at the training ground (a room with all our info on players around the world).

I'm not sure who the guy is on MOTD extra, but he seems to imply that loosing to Southampton 8-0, could (he says with respect to Southampton) be really psychologically damaging. Right, so if it was Arsenal or Pool, they could hold their heads high! t**t.

Thanks TSS, it was posted yesterday but you can't have it too many times. When I watched it before the second half changed into the Crystal Palace v Chelsea game, which was disappointing. I've actually ordered the DVD for £10 to keep but how do you go about downloading rather than streaming?

I think it's a myth and downright lazy to say Theo hasn't improved since he left us. I agree he would of been better to stay longer and that may have stalled his development a bit, but you only need to look at his goals/assists stats for last few years to see how big a player he has become for them and how much they miss him when he's injured (which seems to be alot recently).

Just got back in. Went to the game, couldn't believe my eyes, went out afterwards and travelled back today. What. A. Day.

Commentator Steve Bowers, I think. As I understood it, he suggested that loosing 8-0 to a team like Southampton was damaging in that Sunderland could compare themselves to SFC. To suffer the same result from a Liverpool or Arsenal etc.., would be easier to stomach.

These things are said with some sort of implied sage understanding of the Premier League. Nobody gets the idea that maybe, just maybe, a club might be doing something to buck the trend. So blinkered are they that they don't notice, when it's staring them in the face. Long may they underestimate us, in that case.

I'm kind of eager to see what their reaction will be when Saints go and give the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal a game. Every time Saints break with Premier League tradition and don't lose, or beat another team, the pundits visibly squirm while they adjust their attitudes temporarily. No doubt they will fall back on the off-day response, if Saints outplay those teams and win, or, if we lose under any circumstances, the contented smile will reappear that they were right all along and the planets will have fallen back into alignment.

Yep, I believe so. If he wasn't then some people [like NI at UI] are just going to have to accept that Cortese played a blinder on his own, because Markus signed the cheques and largely took a back seat.

I think the prevailing opinion among most Saints fans is that he would have got their sooner (and/or be better now) if he had had extra time playing early on. Whether this is correct or not is impossible to say

Go on then. I like it when you do that. :)

Besides, I'm away back to my Saints v Sunderland 2nd half.

So why are Sunderland so poor? They have a large fanbase, fourth largest EPL stadium, owner who is no stranger to investing large quantities of money and so on. And yet, while we strengthen our team with dutch's league best talents and CL final playing CB, they are buying the likes of Bridcutt and Buckley.

I find this Koeman quote very interesting:

The midfielders have freedom to burst forward and taking turns to do so, making it very difficult for opponents to defend, not knowing who to mark. Koeman also say we're working on it every week, so image how dangerous we'll be when we achieve the ideal balance.

I agree with that, but you get many people saying he hasn't improved at all since leaving, which is quite clearly rubbish.
