"Tedious"? What on earth is "tedious" about it? Have you also lost your sense of humour.

    No, but it's still tedious.

We're 5 minutes in and I already like the look of Carroll in place of Shelvey. Higher tempo, more movement, more involved.

Come on for goodness sake, why are you always on the lads back... he has been an ever present in one of our best starts to a season in our clubs entire history. If you want wonder miracles then you need to look at £35M Febragas style teams.

I don't have control about what happens on the field. I just comment on it. Stick your head in the ground or up your rear end - makes no difference to me - your loss. But failing to recognize the difference in this game so far with Carroll and Ki working midfield and the chances we have had is being blind.

We're 12 minutes in and we haven't given the ball away once yet by a long ball to nowhere.

I agree. There is a more natural fit in midfield with Carroll in the team. He is more suited to our style of play. He really is a Joe like player.

And Shelvey has been slow thinking, slow moving, and hitting long balls to nowhere all season.

We could / should already be 2-0 up in this game. And Carroll is not light weight at all - he is mobile, compact, clever and make good use of the ball

I wouldn't say Carroll is lightweight, I am just saying Shelvey despite his negatives has been very good protecting our defence from within midfield and has done his part well linking midfield to attack as well. We (and I included) have highlighted his issues because he tries the extraordinary and with practise it can come along nicely, he also reminds the opposition he is on the pitch and that his area belongs to him and that his teammates have someone who is willing to protect them from bullies.

There is no point in pretending our start this season is not down to Shelvey's contributions.
