Can't add too much to what's already been said.

On the way to the match my lad said it'll be 6-0. So, on the phone I popped on £2 at 250/1.

You'd think I might be disappointed, but not a word of it; when we got to 6-0, it was so obvious that we'd slot in another one or two that I knew I wouldn't win. I have never seen such confidence. To see RK pushing them to go forward at 6-0 on MOTD was so inspirational. What a hero.

He said it twice but the first time it was about the first goal.

Yes, I'd prefer it to be them rather than Tottenham (if we had to choose).

Chambers was suspended, if I'm not mistaken.

Choices, choices. Both would be nice, but realistically we have a better chance of being above Spurs. I could never dream that I would be glad Mauricio left, but I am :)

Indeed he was. Another thing that is glossed over in the Clyne vs Chambers for England debate.
Chambers has only had 2 clean sheets in games he has started this year and has been booked in almost every game he has played in (hence, already suspended). Suggests actually some positional naivety. But to listen to the pundits wax lyrical about him you wouldn't think so

Chambers was only signed as back up and one for the future for Arsenal and early injuries have got him games and these (of course) have got him undeservedly into the England squad.

If you look at the other Saints players Arsenal have signed they were all eased in slowly. I remember getting annoyed at how little they played Ox and especially Theo in the early days. It almost seemed like Theo would have been better in his first season going back on loan to us and getting games (and he trotted out that rubbish about "training with world class players is better than playing every week in the Championship")

This suggests that the plan was never for him to play as much (especially not as a defender where your mistakes would be scrutinised more)

Hmm, the Sky football morning thing carrying on with their crap I see. They said we will lose a lot of players again the end of the season.

This may explain Oxo's lack of starting games!

They also said that we were prepared with targets for next summer.

    I'm not stalking you, Beefy...really. :)

I assume/hope it is because we are known to get good fees and the January price premium may price most clubs out!

Only exception may be those with 18 months on their deals that we don't think will re-sign. Jay Rod is the main one here as I am pretty sure they will resist bids for Clyne regardless of bids that come in.

Although with Clyne mentioned - what club needs a right back and could afford him. People constantly say Liverpool but they have 3 on their books at the moment including a young home grown one. I know they have been frivolous with transfers but I would be surprised if they got another right back in.

I'm not entirely certain why that's familiar, but I think I heard about that at least a season or two ago, when the stories went around about how Cortese was alone in the room with Arsenal's negotiators, and they were happy that they'd left it with their shirts still on their backs.

Because Arsenal have, to a certain extent, screwed up both Oxo's and Walcott's careers, I'm glad we got the money, if that is all the players are capable of. If we'd have kept them for one or two extra seasons they would be better players today. However, there was no way under the circumstances. I've heard certain pundits say that Wenger gets the best out of young players. Don't make me laugh.

Chap on Sky Sunday Supplement said that Wenger remarked (before the league Cup game) that Saints were miracle workers and he didn't know how we did it.

Can't disagree with this at all TSS....Oxo and Theo have not improved under Wenger, if they had stayed here for longer they would be better players now IMHO.

Yes, there is a pre-League Cup match press conference video out there [seen it] with Wenger describing Saints as miracle workers. Personally, I think it was a complimentary throw away line, but he may have accidentally stumbled on something there.

Actually, I don't believe for a second that Saints have done anything miraculous. What they have been is smart, and somewhere early in the 2009 takeover certain individuals, probably Reed, Cortese and significant advisors, got together and hammered out a philosophy which they have stuck to, through thick and thin [very much mainly thick..!]. I don't think Saints are doing anything fundamentally different to their core values today to what they did in League One. They have built upon the philosophy, fleshed it out and have become more professional about it, but it's no miracle, in my opinion.
