http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/oct/18/legal-watchdog-fast-tracks-ched-evans-rape-inquiry What are your thoughts on this? He has consistently protested his innocence since the day he got sent down, and his lawyers seem to think he has a very good chance of being exonerated.
He's done his time, he will get abuse from opposition fans but let him get on with it. 'You've got the touch of a...'
Was just going to post a thread on this. Interesting moral ethical dilemma. If Sheff U dont sign him i reckon that fat **** Evans at Rotherham will want to. Ye I think he should be allowed to get on with his career.
He'll get another club no problem, he's a good player and plenty of clubs will be willing to take him on. He might well get the conviction overturned anyway, it was a really dodgy case. Marlon King was worse.
I thought his was 'only' a grope? Evans' conviction seemed a bit suspect, but we weren't party to all of the facts and evidence. However, what I can't believe is that the other guy got off.
1. You can't talk about Marlon King's offences in the singular. He has umpteen convictions. 2. The one you're referring to left a woman with a broken nose. That's quite a 'grope'!
Some of you sound like Judy Finnigan. Well at least it wasn't the bad type of rape eh. If the options are a broken nose or rape I suspect the former is what most women would choose. Would you fellas be saying the same if Ched had raped your daughter in the same circumstances? Bit of a dodgy conviction? I suspect not.
Wow. What a codpiece. I always wished that **** was dead. Oh yes, indeed. Three is the magic number. Hence why I take my meat with two veg. Two big... hairy... sweaty... vegetables... Resting next to a stiff piece of meat... Mmm... Sorry, drifted off for a moment. Ignore that. The man's a complete ****, but there's a reason why the law distinguishes 'statutory rape'. The case seemed to be decided on the basis that she was 'too drunk to consent', and yet the news showed footage of her leaving the hotel and then coming back with a pizza. Bit weird IMO.
I'll reserve my judgement until after his appeal, but something tells me he's innocent. Wrongful convictions have occurred before, and this could be the case here. In my opinion, it is a bit of a dodgy conviction. How would you react if your daughter lied about being raped, and an innocent man went to prison for two years and had his whole life torn apart? I'm not saying he's innocent, but there's a chance he might be.
There's no such think as good or bad rape there's only bad rape. But there is such a thing as miscarriage of justice and I believe this is one. A fast track review of the conviction suggest others think likewise.
If the review finds a miscarriage of justice then I have no problem with him finding another club. I don't think a club should take him on until that review has taken place though.
His appeal will have to prove she lied. The facts remain. She was drunk but consented to sex with the first man. Ched joined in even though she was too drunk to consent. All while his mates filmed it through a window. Didn't he skip the scene through a fire exit? Also the testimony from the receptionist supports her story.
I suspect the fast track only suggests they want it resolved asap. The victim is getting a batteting on social media and on tv as Cheds girlfriends dad is bankrolling it. Money talks is all it suggests to me.
She accused Clayton McDonald of rape as well, but he was acquitted whilst Evans wasn't. Strange how one is guilty and other is innocent, yet they were both accused of the same crime by the same person in the same circumstances. If his mates filmed it, why wasn't that evidence provided in court? It could have determined whether or not she consented. Bizarre case. She's either too drunk to consent, which means they're both guilty as they both had sex with her. Or She wasn't too drunk to consent, and she agreed to have sex with McDonald but not Evans. The second argument contradicts the first, yet the prosecution are using both to say Evans is guilty.
I think thats the problem area. I may be wrong but I'm sure i read she went to work and completed a shift before reporting it. Evans could have paid her money to make it go away but refused as he had a good case. someone correct me if thats wrong.
The majority of jurors in this country don't have a f**ing clue when it comes to understanding the law. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/7253604/Jurors-fail-to-understand-judges-instructions-study-of-69000-verdicts-finds.html Miscarriage of justice probably occurs more than we think.
A lot of rape victims report it days/weeks/months/years later. What does the time scale have to do with it?
