It was classed as Norris Green in my day but I think they're calling it Croxteth now???
It's now got some high falutin' name like De La Salle Humanities College or something.

Had a beautiful first team pitch back in the 60s. Probably one of the best cared-for I've ever played on.

The school pitches were ****e in 2 dogs,i once was playing left back for our school against st augustine's on the king george v playing fields in a cup semi final and their over-age player(you used to be allowed 1)was non other than peter reid,

They were at home and had their teacher reffing the game,it was 1-1 with a few minutes left and reidy beats our midfielder to the ball and comes flying towards me and gets into the area,i threw a great tackle in but reidy fell over a divit in the pitch and their teacher blew for a pen.

Peter Reid took it and they won.

But hes a nice fella and i forgive him.

One of my claims to fame from my schoolboy days. We got fed up being bashed about by Joe Royal. So at one corner me and me mate ran him into the post. He's still got the scar on his nose.

Perhaps the other was for being sent off for ungentlemanly conduct - the ref (teacher) saw me grabbing a crafty *** from me mates when I was pretending to re-tie my laces (that ended with another "bend over boy" experience. Never could understand why I was getting strapped for smoking when the Deputy Head who administered the strap was followed out of the teachers common room by clouds of smoke!!!)

Joe Royle,Jeez i'll keep a look out for the scar next time hes on the box.

I was a smoker at school meself and lost count of how many times i got caught and caned, the only one who used the strap in the ally's was the headmaster(an ex-borstal teacher)who was an evil bastard.

    Great story from my schooldays
We had a Welsh teacher who taught French and Spanish (think about it).
    On his first day he walked into class and said;
" Now then you boys, look yere. I know all about you boys giving teachers nicknames and takin the mickey out of them and I'm not 'avin it, see? I 'm not havin you callin me Taffy or whatever behind my back, see? My name is Mr. Owen and I want to be known as such.
From that day on he was known as Such.

    Every day 'til he left.
Even new teachers thought it was his real name.

My House Master was called Pallo so we called him jackie after the wrestler. His by-word was "always tell the truth boys. Nothing will happen to you if you tell the truth". One day he caught me messing about at the back of the class. "What are you doing laddy?" he shouted. "Messing about Sir" I honestly replied. He strode up and cracked me over my ear (he had a way of doing that and then pulling your head around where he'd just hit you by the short hairs on your sideburns). The class reminded him of what he always said about telling the truth. He responded with "I didn't like the way he did it!" Even I had to laugh at that.

We had one teacher we called The Little Abo but I never could remember his real name.

Our school motto was Fide Et Laboure (by faith and work) but we didn't do latin so we said it meant Vote Labour

I hated my school. That story and 4 o'clock were the only things I liked about it.
Have to go out for a bit, I'll check back later to see if anyone's come up with any more.
