Big shout out for my sister who was todays Barclays supporter of the week and features in the match magazine and even noticed her name on the advertising hoardings. She also gave out an award to grounds men today and then got to watch a great game on top of that.

There is a video of Ronald in the Mail report. Asked about how he felt when everyone was singing his name, he said he was very happy here and everyone was like a family, but then he added that it was easy to be a happy family when you win 8-0, but you need to be strong when you lose as well. I hope we all remember that.

Anyone that was there notice that when we scored 7 we were all singing "we want eight", but then when we got 8 it almost became a bit awkward....!?

Schneiderlin was superb second half. Sensational in fact, won every ball.

Agreed. He and Davis started really shakily, which was a large part of the reason for our iffy first half hour....but then....

As much as I think Pelle was fantastic the second goal in the "hat trick" shouldn't be his IMO. There is one angle where you see the defender kick it away from goal only for it to hit his own leg and back in. So wouldn't that mean it was an own goal?

If it just sort of bobbled off the keeper and once off the defender into the net I'd say it was Pelle's.

I think it will probably stay as an own goal. The defender won't want it, and to be honest, the own goal ruling could easily go in favour of Pelle. The reason being that, although Mannone deflects Pelle's shot, and takes 90% of the steam out of it, the ball was continuing to roll, and would have rolled into the goal if left unhindered. However, the defender got back and got the ball tangled between his legs. Yes, he changed the direction of the ball but crucially, the ball was on its way in anyway.

Let's put it this way. Several seasons ago I saw a shot by Wayne Rooney that wasn't even on target [in fact it was heading towards the corner flag, if anywhere], it got a huge deflection off a defender and went into the net. The goal went to Rooney. If there is any justice, Pelle will get his hat-trick. But we know he won't.

Shades of Egil Ostenstad. He scored a hat-rick against ManU in the famous 6-3, but was awarded only two goals, even though the own goal he provoked was on target.

Incidentally, THE 6-3 WAS NOT THE GREY SHIRTS GAME. I say it loud because although fans understandably get it wrong, it's annoying when the error becomes the truth because even the professionals get it wrong, as commentator Pierce did on MOTD. For those who don't remember or know; the 'grey shirts' game ended in a 3-1 scoreline to Saints. ManU wore grey shirts for the first half and illegally [I believe] ran out in a changed blue/white strip for the second half.

The season after Saints won 6-3 when, in the 1st half, Roy Keane was sent off for a tackle on Claus Lundekvam. ManU played 70 minutes of the game with 10 men. My notable memory from it is Matty's's genius chip over Schmeichel.

And not a grey shirt in sight, despite what Jonathan Pierce said in today's 8-0 commentary on MOTD. :)

Finally read through the thread and seen that you've all censured Jonathan Pierce for his lack of Saints knowledge. Good stuff.

Apologies for being late to the party. :)

Hope they repeat...can't see too much of that game. Just e-mailed a friend (who is a Newcastle fan) to tell her that yesterday's result made their 4-0 loss to us almost respectable :)

He also said how Sunderland fans faced a 50 mile round trip. Think he meant 500.

Yeah, 50 miles would apply to Man Utd fans only.
