Only Man Utd have ever had a better win in the Premiership. EVER!!!! (Manchester United 9-0 Ipswich, March 1995)
Plus West Brom doing Man U and Stoke beating Swansea. Mind you, the strangest looking thing in the table at the moment is West Ham 3 points behind us in 4th place. Where did they come from?
You seem to have an unhealthy fascination over whether Saints are given proper credit by the pundits. Almost every game you stew over how Saints are viewed on MOTD or what Robbie Savage says. No Premier League team should ever lose to another Premier League side by 8-0. Sunderland played like absolute crap. We took advantage and won the match convincingly. That's all that matters. Who cares how some pundit views the game? If anything, I'd prefer they overlook Saints.
As Tony the Tiger would say...... Grrrrrrr8!!! Only 8 more wins to safety... Seriously, I hope we haven't used up all our luck in one game, it was just one of those days when everything went right...I'm not complaining though and it's good that Corky and Big Vic are chipping in with goals, that's 8 from CM already this season....hmm i've said 8 a few times in this post...
Came from Sam realising that there is an alternative to hoofball. But can he avoid the temptation to revert back to the Nolan-Carroll partnership once the latter is fit again? Particularly if West Ham lose a couple on the bounce whilst Andy sits on the bench.
Oh absolutely. I completely agree. If today had been last season's Pochettino team we would have had something like 65% possession instead of 55% and would have been wasting chances left, right and centre, though probably coming away with a 4-0 or 4-1. This team plays with such a freedom and trust in each other that they can go forward or back as a unit, knowing where each other are. Last season they were drilled into playing a particular way. This season they seem to be being guided into playing a particular way, but having room and time to express themselves. And the effort they make to do their jobs is so impressive.
Bang on. Before KO, I called it over Vergini and how much of a liability he is. At HT, I called it over Brown. Deciding that Vergini would be a better option than Brown at CB (Vergini at RB was bad enough) was a disaster - made even worse by then playing a defensive midfielder in Bridcutt at RB. It wasn't even like it was a chance that would lead to Sunderland having a shot of getting three goals back.
Koeman said he was sorry for Poyet. Also said that we didn't play that well initially, but he was proud of how we kept going. Pelle (when asked why we didn't ease up at 4 or 5) said because it wouldn't be fair on the fans. Poyet said it was the most embarrassed he had ever been and that he had learnt a lot about some of his players (in a bad way).
Well don't worry about my health and I'm sure it's not catching. I have a fascination with fair play and fair credit to teams who deserve that credit, whether it be Southampton or anyone else. I believe passionately in fairness in everything I see and do. That's my unhealthy fascination. If you think that's wrong, then perhaps you'll just have to put up with it. BBC606 having a right go about Clyne not playing for England. Savage reckons he should start over Chambers, and is getting quite wound up about it.
We will get attention for this, because it is built on previous success...not a one off (though the score is). Also Sunderland are not facing imminent relegation, are not a top four club and Poyet isn't facing the sack.
Ball going out doesn't matter, does it? It doesn't become not a foul just because the player has already played the ball. You see all the time where defenders manage to just clear a ball or a midfielder manages a pass a split second before being bundled over by a reckless tackle. No one says "Oh well, he cleared the ball already so no foul." If anything, it's usually a case FOR a foul because it highlights that the tackle was late. Either it wasn't a foul because it was a legal challenge, or it was a foul in which case it took place inside the penalty area and it was a penalty kick. The ball going out for a goal kick is irrelevant.
I think Darren Fletcher was guilty of doing what Robbie Savage does continually: taking an indefensible position and sticking to it for the sake of a good argument. He's now making the point that Chambers had had more games than Clyne this season, including 5 CL games, but conveniently forgetting that most of those games were at CB, not RB.
Dusan Tadic becomes the 6th player to assist 4 goals in one game along with Bergkamp, Fabregas, Cazorla, Adebayor and Reyes.
