Up until Saints scored early in the 2nd half, Sunderland hadn't actually been playing that badly. As soon as that happened, their heads went down though. However, as soon as it is available, I am going to download the 90 minutes of the game and find out in detail..!
Congrats on the impressive win today. If we were even a quarter as good as you, we might actually be able to not play like utter **** for 5 minutes or so.

What do people think about their penalty shout. I know I am biased but I don't know how you can give a penalty after the striker has missed. If Forster had not taken him down he still would not have been able to retrieve the ball and score... And even if you could argue about it still being foul play it surely wouldn't have been a red card - you can't prevent a clear goal scoring chance if the striker has already missed and no longer has the ball...
Phil Thompson (on Sky) pulled Sunderland to bits, then was positively orgasmic about Southampton. I thought he would never stop
Kilbane and Crooks on Final Score were also pulling Sunderland to bits. Rather odd, as two weeks ago they gave Stoke a very good game. Almost grudgingly, they've admitted that Sunderland's performance maybe something to do with the team they've been playing.
We play football the way it should be played. Direct when it is the right call, intricate when we can, not desperate for the ball but hungry. Pochettino played a pretty system. Koeman plays the stuff of dreams.
They were horrible throughout. I'll grant you their offense was okay in the first half, but their defense was a shambles. First goal came from a pass that went off a defenders back, second goal was an own goal under not much pressure. The third goal was a brilliant cross to find Cork and put it right on his foot. You could mark that down as good play from Saints rather than bad play for Sunderland had their been a man somewhere in the vicinity of Cork but he was completely unmarked. No one picked him up. Terrible defending on Long who could have scored, then another own goal and well... it goes on. You can't play that badly on defense and not expect to get destroyed.
Edit: (initially reply to red and white) Calling all Saints fans. Have a celebratory beverage, preferably alcoholic!
