Six months ago if someone had said we would be top of League 2 come mid October I would have sent for the men in white coats, but here we are and I keep having to pinch myself to ensure Iâm not dreaming, every day Iâve had to check the table but it hasnât changed and to make my big smile turn into a large grin I look at the bottom of the table and there I see Oxford in the bottom two. So now we face our boggy team having not beaten Wimbledon since their return to the Football League as AFC, the Dons come into the game having shaken Bury off their perch so our task is not to succumb to the same fate as Iâm enjoying this seasonâs smile instead of last seasonâs frown. With the Doc still being weeks away from fitness all eyes will be on any loan moves in case Aaron Pierre has not recovered from his head injury. I will be at Adams Park taking my place again on the terrace for this one hoping the laugh continues
I hate to say it but, with Wimbledon in the form they are in, I can see us losing this one, especially if Pierre can't play. I've said before that, with our solid defence, not many teams will get 2 goals against us. Pierre's absence would leave a big hole so I'm not sure how we can hold out without him. If we can get a point I will be delighted, 3 ecstatic
Great news. This tank we're up against. Here's how to play him folks. We have to beat him with athleticism and cover. That is one defender uses his pace to stop him getting the ball and one stays back to pick him off if he does win it. We have to cut him out of the game.
I have a feeling Pierre will play as he walked off the pitch not carried off, it depends on how the rules are interpreted i suppose, here's hoping he plays and puts a crunching tacle in early on on Akinfenwa.
But not crunching enough to get sent off, or even a yellow that would put him on a knife edge for the rest of the game.
Correct Ron just enough to let him know he's met his match so to speak. This will be the biggest test so far this season for our defence but i reckon they'll be up to it after all we've only let in 8 goals all season.
I remember when I used to play for the school team, the manager would say, it doesn't matter how big they are, hit'em hard and often early on. Of course, in those days we didn't have yellow cards and the only way you got off the pitch was if you got your leg broken; no substitutes in those days.
What's happened to Holloway not even a sub> F*cking Craig starts well that cuts our goalscoring chances and Hayes might just as well play the lone striker role having that usless **** paired with him,not a good decision Ainsworth.
Very odd. Maybe there is a good reason. I see Wimbledon have 4 yellow cards already, and remarkably, we have none. Will we be against 10 men again? This could be very handy.
