Pochettino needs to come out in the post-match press conference and slaughter Moss. Farcical stuff, with the prick even tackling one of our players at one point. As I've said before, we're seen as a push over by the officials and we get treated like one. It's tough enough playing against City at the best of time. Having 10 against their 12 again just makes it impossible.
but what can we learn? watching Spurs saps me of confidence.....every time we have the ball..we don't look determined...Lamela,eriksen...try half hearted dribbles...usually straight into the oppo. We don't have a defence..i wouldn't blame Lioris for wanting to move...he deserves to play in front of a defence..not some cardboard cut outs....Soldado is shot mentally. our mentality is piss poor...people say things like 'you only sing when your winning'...im afraid we only play when 'we are winning'.
Regardless of the poor officiating, that was yet another toothless performance from us. Give the officials the roasting that's properly due to them, but don't permit Poch or any of the players to use that as an excuse to paper over the many visible and obvious cracks.
We played 10 against 12 and had 19 attempts. I'd say some people are hard to please but with others it's downright impossible.
we didn't play with 10 men for the whole match... 19 attempts......I don't know if that means we are good or absolutely crap at scoring a goal...make of the stat what you will. the ref had a shocker but if we played like we think we should be then he couldn't do much with his bias......we have no heart...these things cant be taught... As for Poch..I wont say much against him 8 games in......but on the field an individual should go toe to toe..we got no feet im afraid....id rather have 2 shots and 1 goal than 19 and 1 goal.
I am in Brighton on a jolly with the family in the North lanes . Sounds like we are a million miles away from top 4. Where do our merry men think we will finish this season after a average start to the campaign ?
We have two issues...our striker is **** and we have an unsettled ever changing defence. Soldado scores and its 2 all with them on the back foot. If the cross for their 3rd pen was cut out by the 2 defenders it passed then no pen and no excuse for the **** ref to make another **** decision. We were in the match until 65 mins...last year we were out of it after 14 seconds. The best striker in the uk got all their goals...the worst striker in our prem history (thats some feat considering we had rasiak and zamora) could do anything...to me, that was the difference
Salford North 4 v Bunch of sideways passing, soft simple Simons 1 Yet another drubbing by a top four club. Different manager, same old story. Its becoming shamefully embarrassing for all concerned. Where has the real Tottenham Hotspur FC gone ?.
I know that I, and others have been saying this for a while, but we desperately need a striker. We created numerous chances today - chances that somebody like Aguero would have gobbled up. The way City got straight through to our back 4 was frightening too.
well Levy shouldn't squabble over a million and we could have had suarez..however he was more than happy to pay 16 mill for Bent..almost 30 for Soldado....etc etc...so we have had some good chances in the past...
Worst ref in the league. Okay, maybe Twatkinson's up there as well but the lack of consistency again is shocking. Our players need to start throwing themselves to the ground because the referees are happier giving penalties than they are fouls outside the area. The amount of City attacks that started with the kind of "slight" fouls that get given against us in the penalty box is a disgrace, there's no consistency to be found amongst the lot of them. Pleased with the performance and effort of our players today, they were moments when City tore us to part but that's to be expected when we set up to attack in numbers like we did today. I think Pochettino got it wrong in that aspect but the players shouldn't be faulted for the odd individual error, we were up against a very good side and they had an extra man even before the sending off with the way the referee was performing.
Considering how Bale was repeatedly booked for the crime of being cynically hacked down by opposition defenders, that probably won't work. What always pissed me off about that is the refs started it after Brendan Rodgers pointed the finger at Bale for going over easily, as if Suarez and Gerrard didn't have hard-earned reputations for diving. If it was AVB pointing the finger at (for the sake of argument) Sterling, do you think refs would have taken that on board and started booking him whenever he was scythed down? Of course they wouldn't!
It means we gave it a good go at the Etihad and could've perhaps scored more. There's no point jumping to extremes with statistics, many games are decided by fine margins but if you're the better side you should win more often than not. Patience is needed and it may well come good. The positives are there for anyone that wants to see it, we've scored away against Arsenal and City thanks to quick closing down in the final third and we've had plenty of chances pouring forward. In defence there are problems and in the overall balance of the team but if you take our best performance(QPR) and our worst(West Brom) away it's clear to see what Pochettinos doing and whilst the problems from last season are still there, the benefits are starting to come too. So far this season we've hit the wordwork 3 times, compared to our opposition's 1, we've conceded 1 own goal compared to our opposition's 0, we've had 2 red cards compared to our opposition's 1, we've conceded 5 penalties compared to our opposition's 1, if it all balances out like they say we're in for a terrific rest of the season as the luck runs our way.
I thought we played reasonably well. We were not as good as City but their squad cost twice as much as ours. They actually only scored the same number of legitimate goals as we did despite having a man advantage for a quarter of the match (their fourth goal was from a pass from a free-kick that was quickly taken from a spot 5 yards ahead of the foul).
Evening lads. Watched the game earlier but decided to hang back and let the dust settle for a while until I gave my two cents worth. My verdict overall is that Poch has got quite a bit of dead wood to deal with a the club right now and picking through the bones, I can see we need to make a lot of changes in personnel. Problem is, I have little faith in those making the decisions on who we buy will ever get it right. From the back to the front, we looked pretty lame all over the pitch. We've all said it a thousand times but Lloris is by far our best player which is a damning verdict when you consider the net spend on this squad. Overall, here's my player by player comments: Lloris - saved us from a possibly embarrassing cricket score yet again! Dier - started great but has got consistently weaker as the season has progressed Kaboul - never captain material for me. He's not leading by example to have any claims for the armband Fazio - awful debut. Red card was harsh but was pulled all over the place at times Rose - probably our best defender today and that's saying something! Capoue - is it me or does he look pedestrian in midfield? Mason - one of our only bright hopes. Wants the ball and wants to get forward. Lamela - had amare today. Still clearly lacking confidence and self-belief Eriksen - had a mixed game but at least got on the scoresheet. Still way off his best though Chadli - not as influential or as powerful in previous games. Had a disappointing day. Soldado - finished. Pathetically taken penalty. Best days are over. Had a big chance today to shine and blew it big time. Subs: Dembélé - the usual performance of side passing, sideways movement, losing the ball but very little impact. Vertonghen - mister big gob who wants a move clearly doesn't realise he's not as good as he thinks he is! Townsend - predictably irritating. Thinks he's the new Gareth Bale but is clearly an overrated, one footed wonder. Am I being harsh? Possibly seeing we were playing against a hugely expensively assembled team but our bunch of mugs cost a few bob too. That team desperately needs leadership as I can't see it anywhere on the pitch right now.
Our bunch of mugs would have got a 1-1 draw at the home of the Champions if the ref had done his job correctly.
