its this simple. (to my view) this is a football forum... or no? if it is you have to see that the kind of crap lads were allowed away with first attracted people then has driven a lot away. I see that there are numerous issues of which I hear guff about. rival fans this, breaking our freedoms that.... whatever. all things that are important to users individually need some sort of recourse. but for me this is a big red line that is long long overdue. Why do you think its ok to post pics and stuff here that risks the sites rating and ability to attract any new users? maybe cos you don't do other dodgy sites and see it as a safer place? Whatever the reason if the site is to have a long term future as any sort of football forum then its got to be stopped.
I agree with everything mito's said about this but on a spectrum of what's decent enough to post [including both words and pictures] I'm probably almost at the extreme opposite end to most users on here, so my view wouldn't count as I'm too strait laced and not your typical forum user. It would be interesting to know why potential new users [the many guests this place seems to draw] aren't signing up. If there was a permanent / semi-permanent thread asking guests that very question, it wouldn't work because they'd have to sign up in order to answer! Is anyone actively advertising the site on twitter etc?
i should imagine most of the guests you see are users who cant be arsed to log in jb does anyone do twitter, faceache links etc to on here for our brilliant match day threads lol, im guessing that's how a lot of users abroad find this place.
I took a break round about the time of the Suarez World Cup bite - glad I missed all the rubbish that undoubtedly was posted - but the day I last posted around that time there were about 50 guests viewing the Suarez thread. Who are they, the old 'long time readers, not signed up' types?
all looking at porn, no question in my mind. btw the HIGHEST this stie was was 10k.... 701 is actually higher than i usually see on that. i see 800 when i log in at times at matchdays but rarely now see 1000+ jenners there was a twitter luc had it. no there is not. LFC board needs something so we could raise one but i haven't the time to go trolling bbc and so forth to get not606 out there and frankly.... the rep this site has... i don't want the flak towards me for doing so. we need to clean up the act and an almost rebrand to do that.
To be fair, this site was touted as the antidote to the Beeb. A place where people could discuss things freely without the overarching nannying of Auntie. Of course, that should be within reason, and where the line is drawn is somewhat subjective. When I first visited the site, I was a little put off by the amount of personal insult that was allowed- not just because I'm such a delicate soul, but because it really does inhibit debate, and I find mindless name-calling* a childish waste of time. However, if the site really does want freedom of speech, then we would have to accept that it belongs in the murkier corners of social networking, and accept that advertisers concerned about their reputations probably won't want to be associated with us. Can't have it both ways, I'm afraid. I agree that there's no need for porn (there are better ways of getting that if it's what you want), but I imagine the degree of profanity on here (not to mention some frankly libellous content) would be sufficient to scare off quite a few. * wait for it.........

I joined both here and ja606 after the bbc closed and you know mito I had my reservations about this site, we talked about it [Derek] - there was some disgusting stuff on the first page .. and yes my definition of that may vary widely to most but I try and have a live and let live attitude, those who want to indulge it's up to them, I don't want to stop them doing whatever, I just choose otherwise, one isn't better than the other, just different imo. but the stuff was about the Bulger baby case if I remember and I thought by anybody's standards it was vile. Stuff like that does put people off. saint - I agree with what you said as well.
theres some place called sexy poll (which i do not have password for) but another mod says he was handed password when he just asked what it was.... I believe the crap is locked in but thats the way it is. i'd hope that they can clean up... i will use these new rules here and try not to annoy anyone while doing it.

its a board rather than a thread. the site owner wrote the code. its basically an entire forum page just like lfc board and is a pimple on not606's backside even more than GC. if you go to ja606 thats boring but its bascially not got the means to add pics of videos but you can put a link.... here you've added functions that are bascially used for this.
If you look 'Sexy Poll' is the same mods as Newcastle board. Its like their pub thread I think but password protected
I think there are 2 advantages of this place over ja606, the ability to PM and the ability to edit your posts, and that's it. I don't really care about pictures, gifs and videos - although I do use those facilities on occasion - maybe if I was teenager I'd want the 'added extras' but I don't really care about them. I like the ja606 format because it's ultra simple to use and navigate around - I stopped posting there because of the admin/owners giving out personal info and generally butting in all the time, but I much prefer their format. In the end it comes down to who you're keeping company with and that's what makes you stay or leave. There's only a couple of people on here I don't like so I don't engage. I think sometimes it's like a popularity contest on here, an attention seekers paradise, but each to their own, people can do what they like and portray themselves any way they want to, I don't care - majority of the time. I think sometimes respect goes out the window [I'm talking about the OT religious/philosophy ..... beliefs that people hold, as adults we should be able to challenge without denigrating.] but if the sites in trouble then measures need to be taken which it looks like they are hence this thread.
The sexy poll area won't get the site black listed. Same goes for things posted on the mod board. People aren't able to access these areas without first gaining permission. They can't found in a search either.
