Pacific Rim Review:

Story:
The movie starts with how it all started, that humans though alien life will come from space but instead alien life begin to appear from the bottom of the sea from a place called “The Breach” which is like a portal to a different world, gigantic creatures begin to come out of the Breach, when the first one attacked the humans were not prepared to defend themselves, but after they killed it they moved on, then the second creature arrives then the third slowly the humans realized that the creatures wont stop coming, all the nations of the world come together to defend themselves against this new threat, a program named Jaeger was created, gigantic mechanical units where created to fight the monsters called Kaiju a human pilots would pilot these gigantic machines but it was too much for a single human to control them, so they begin to combine 2 pilots mind to control the robot a pilot for the left side & a pilot for the right, the pilots minds used to combine using a system called “The Drift” , after this humans were successful in defending themselves for some time, but the Kaiju’s begin to evolve,
In the Present time a emergency call wakes up 2 sleeping pilots of a Jaeger unit, they gear up to respond to the emergency call, they are 2 brothers named Raleigh Becket & Yancy Becket, together they pilot their Jaeger named “Gypsy Danger” during the fight between a Kaiju & Gypsy Danger, Kaiju breaks into the cockpit & grabs Yancy out of the cockpit, Yancy dies, Rale fights the Kaiju & kills it, then walks to the shore where Gypsy Danger falls down coz of the massive damage it took during the war,
After that Rale beings to work in a construction project called the Wall of Life a new project which is to build massive walls around the shore lines to keep the Kaijus out of the human cities, on the other side the Jaeger program is being shut down coz the nations think its no longer an effective defense measure against the Kaijus, Jaeger commander Stacker however continues the Jaeger project after the 4 remaining Jaeger units are transferred to Hong Kong so that they can defend the the Wall of Life project there, Stacker recruits Rale for his Jaeger program to pilot his old unit Gypsy Danger, when Rale comes to the operational base of Jaeger, he meets Mako Mori & two other scientists Newton and Herman who are working to understand the Kaijus, Stacker plans to destroy the Breach & solve this problem permanently by detonating a atomic bomb inside the Breach but Rale says that its been tried already and it did not worked, Newton says that he can make a Drift with a Kaiju Brain, Herman tells that more kaijus will come out of the breach & soon 2 kaijus will come at the same time, then 3, 4, & so on, Rale begins to look for a new copilot to pilot Gypsy Danger, he selects Mako after she proves him that she is good enough for the Job, but Stacker refuses, later on Stacker allows a test run of Gypsy with Mako & Rale, but Mako loses control & almost fired the Plasma cannon of Gypsy danger inside the hanger with lot of people around, Stacker declared Mako unfit for combat & removes her from the unit, as Dr Herman predicted 2 Kaijus attack at the same time, Stacker sends in 3 Jaeger units to fight them, a Chinese Jaeger Crew, a Russian Jaeger Crew, & a Australian father & son Jaeger Crew, in the mean time Dr Newton successfully Drifts with a Kaiju brain and finds out that they are not just wild creatures but are cloned beings send to earth by their alien masters who wish to invade earth, also that these creatures have a Hive brain,
During the fight the Kaijus destroy the Chinese Jaeger & all 3 pilots are killed, then combining their strength & abilities the Kaijus destroy the Russian Jaeger as well, the third Jaeger moves into the fight but a Kaiju creates a EMP explosion & disables the third Jaeger as well, with no option left Stacker allows Rale & Mako to take Gypsy Danger into combat coz its nuclear & wont shut down coz of EMP, in the mean time Stacker comes to know about Dr Newton’s Drift with a Kaiju brain, when he knows what Dr Newton has seen he asks him to gather more info, Stacker tells Dr Newton about Hannibal Chau, a person who sells Kaiju organs in black market, Dr Newton goes to meet Hannibal, after killing 2 Jaegers and disabling the 3rd one, 1 of the Kaiju’s goes toward the city, the other stays around the ocean, the Australian father son crew, gets out of their disabled Jaeger & shoots the Kaiju in the eyes with flair guns, the Kaiju gets angry & just as he is about to attack the crew, Gypsy Danger comes there to rescue the crew, fights with the Kaiju & kills it, on the other hand when Dr Newton meets Hannibal he tells Newton that a Drift is a 2 way bridge & when Newton Drifted with a Kaiju brain the creators of Kaijus knew about him too, the second Kaiju is now looking for Dr Newton, Hannibal tells Newton to go hide in a public refuge coz he don’t want a Kaiju to come to his place, so Newton goes inside a public refuge but the Kaiju senses Newton & breaks the roof of the public refuge just as its about to attack Newton, Gypsy Danger comes around & fights with the second Kaiju, during the fight the Kaiju transform into a flying beast & with Gypsy in its claws begin to fly out of earth, but Gypsy uses its sword & kills the Kaiju, they use their torso Thrusters to land safely on the ground, after the attack is over, Rale & mako returns to base, Newton returns to Hannibal telling him that he wants a Kaiju Brain, Hannibal helps Newton by sending his team to the newly killed Kaiju in the city, where Newton will Drift with the Kaiju Brain,
Another wave of Kaiju’s appear from the Breach but this time 2 Kaiju’s are defending the Breach & not attacking humans. When Hannibal’s men were trying to reach the brain of the fallen Kaiju, they encounter a unborn baby Kaiju inside, the unborn Kaiju attacks the team then comes out, Dr Newton runs for his life & the baby Kaiju follows him but dies soon coz it still has not developed proper lungs, when Hannibal comes to take a close look at the dead baby Kaiju it kills Hannibal then dies, Dr Herman now agrees to help Dr Newton they go into a Drift with the Kaiju Brain, & finds out that the Aliens already know about the bombing plan on the Breach, they also find out that only Kaiju DNA will go through the Breach anything else will be thrown back to this world, in the mean time Stacker teams up with the son from the Australian crew, as his father was injured during the fight, two last remaining Jaeger units go to compete the mission, just as their reach new the Breach a 3rd Kaiju appears, it’s a Class 5 the biggest humans have ever seen, both Jaeger units get into a fight killing 1 class 4 Kaijus, but Stacker’s Jaeger is heavily damaged & cannot deliver the bomb, Stacker tells Gypsy to continue the mission with a dead body of a Kaiju so that the Breach allows them to enter, near the Breach Gypsy faces the Class 5 Kaiju, Stacker detonates the bomb in his Jaeger to kills the 2 class 4 Kaiju, Gypsy stabs the class 5 Kaiju in the neck with its sword & falls into the Breach, Gypsy crossed over the real alien dimension, Rale ejects Mako then overloads the nuclear reaction in Gypsy then ejects, the explosion destroys the Breach, Mako & Rale resurface on the ocean on earth, the last scene shows rescue helis flying over them who are coming to save them as they both hold each other in a rescue pod,


Well this movie has many negative points, for starters no one really bothers to tell why the Jaeger program was being cancelled over building a stupid wall that could not stop the kaijus even for a second, all the fight scenes are at night & that ruins it, the Jaegers don’t look good nor the Kaiju’s, its like watching a kickboxing match between a giant robot & a giant creature in which both don’t know anything about kickboxing, the fight scenes really lack creativity, this movie will give you the same feeling as Godzilla except that ther is a giant dumb robot in it too, the acting is not really good, & the character don’t really look convincing, the direction is not good, the music is not good, the alien race is not given any importance at all, their world their civilization everything is not really given much importance, the visual Fx is super simple & fails to impress completely, if you take the time to watch this movie, it will be a waste, nothing in this movie is really special, in fact you will see really stupid things happening with no explanation why,, so give it a miss and you wont miss anything at all, I will give it 0.1/10
