Looking at the contribution from the decent people, on here, I'm not on my own.

I suppose you can take on anyone armed only with a blow up doll on a stick <laugh>

Great contribution as usual ...... I'll leave you to entertain everyone with your fantastic stories of prostitutes and squalor <ok>

I'm off down a proper pub with proper people.

Idiotic drivel as usual from the most tedious man on the board <doh>

Just back in and have to applaud the owners of the Brown Cow <applause>

A great traditional pub with a wide selection of beers & lagers, live music, an upcoming beer festival etc.

They also have a 'lounge' with comfy sofas etc, as well as free wifi, table service and food.

That seems to be a recurring theme that people want something, close to them, that they made themselves.
    Several people have mentioned it.

I have a 2ft long mahogany cosh, and kuckle-dusters, that I made myself ..... I've had both for over 20 years.
They're in my will and left to my sons as they're something I've had with me much of my life.

This has been an illuming & interesting thread <ok>

My dad was in Burma in WW II, and had a kukri that he brought back with him. I'd love to have it, but my older sister ended up with it. That's started me thinking, maybe I'll get a reproduction one, or an old one from ebay if I can find one like my dad's. You'd definitely frighten a burglar with one of those.

Mind, if I was a burglar one of the tools of my trade would be an upright vacuum cleaner :bandit:

That's right, because you'd have no trouble getting past the first line of defence - the guard dog - as soon as Butch sees the Hoover it would be away

I'm sure most dog owners would agree

i would be interested how you packed these cases and in what proportion of wads and powder to the other contents in the case, how did you finish the crimp end with no ridges or buckles along its length,if its not smooth you cannot load and/or expect ejection or both, plastic cases or paper, also i would expect the sand did the bore no favours at all. curious ?

Don't be daft Stu man, you buy them .... you can get all sorts of cartridges from pepper to 'flame throwers' & blanks.
Do you really believe that pepper, sand, salt, rubber are more harmful to the bore than gunpowder and metal shot?

Be honest, you're accusing me of lying but don't have the balls to do it without making snide 'suggestions'.

You have form for that kind of thing though don't you?

    Yes you're certainly curious .............

I've been thinking about this to be honest, I'm not sure if my protective instinct would override everything else but I'd like to think if the intruder was just a junkie I'd send him on his way with the old bill after having his teeth kicked in and jaw smashed to pieces. "He fell down the stairs when I chased him officer".

I have a new carpet as well, on the stairs, if he was wearing muddy shoes that might just tip me over the edge.

That sounds like a plan just to leave one near the house entrance as a deterrent - as I always manage to get tripped up by the hose or chord wherever our cleaner is situated its like walking through an obstacle course :steam:
