Won't happen - Rodgers pre-empts it by resting him before he gets tired, But even if it did happen we'd support him, he's a young kid <ok>

You only have to be quoted by Woy to the press as saying you are "too tired", even if you never actually said that.

    Loose lips sink ships.

Both Rodgers and Hodgson have said far too much - from Rodgers giving away tactical strategies to Hodgson not being able to hold his own water, this doesn't need playing out in the media.

    Pathetic posts chaps

Barkley is a full international and wouldn't benefit from turning out for the U21's at the end of a long season.

Which is **** all like Sterling being cajoled into spewing a competitive senior appearance in October, but don't let that stop your kopite bellendery :)

If its good enough for world cup winners like Mata & Javi Martinez then surely a player like Barkley with so little experience and no notable achievements would benefit a great deal from playing in an international tournament.

    Yes, he should actually!

England has a habit of rushing players and fast tracking them into the first team.

Plus Sterlng has said he is happy to play for the u21 at the Euros 2015.

    Shots fired by Rodgers tonight:

    Butland
    Flanagan Stones Chambers Shaw
    CM Barkley CM
    Sterling
    Berahino Kane

Pretty decent udner 21 team that with the bulk of them destined to be regulars in the full team in another 3 or 4 years. Give them a tournament together at under 21's and see how they get on and promote them together to make it easier to integrate into the full set up.

As someone mentioned, we rush our top young players into the first team because we lack good depth but giving them time to develop at International stage with team mates they will be playing with in future tournaments is more of a benefit.

Not a bad udner 21 side there with a few gaps. Would

Some really talented players that need to play regularly together - let them develop relationships at u21 level and phase them into the first team.

I rather the first team suffer a few years of mediocrity with the current crop and allow the u21's to develop naturally together.

As far as the national side is concerned, they're not interested in developing players or doing what's best for them. Playing for your country is about advancing the country and not about individuals, so national managers are selfish in this respect. For them if player X has jumped to the full side but is then required by the U21's as well at some point, then they go where they're needed and where they're told to go - if they don't like it they feign injury or whatever excuse they can get away with.

Club managers have the individuals welfare to think of as well, national managers should be thinking about it but they're not and they don't seem to care what harm they may be doing to a club side by not protecting players, whatever that protection looks like. It could be looking after the youngsters in a better way or having better training or even keeping the media at bay. Roy's failed on every count so far.
