Great news with the signings, Frampton and Montrose especially dread to think how much that lot cost. But i have noticed a few fellow Gills fans saying that we should go out and Get J Brown, Lee and Birchall. Money does not grow on trees Brown will be well out of our price range, spend too much and point deductions can loom, not meaning to dampen the mood but we all were high as a kite this time last year!!
I think we need 2 or 3 more but nothing special only Free agents, like Byfield or Brandy a good keeper and a back up LB and maybe back up midfielder if the budget stretches to that.Just have to see.
most people didnt even think we could afford these lot. but were only giving our views. we have signed 6 today but 2/3 of these are likely not to start so we still need a striker and a goal keeper. unless you want flitney as number 1 and steffan payne starting?
We know Hoadie does not have a brain but others seem to be having trouble with interpreting these signings as well. Hawkes has a contract and is a well regarded investment for the future. Flitney has a 2 year contract an a good track record and is undoubtedly signed as first choice goalie. In other words no room for a jason Brown. Frampton is an alternative to Lee and most unlikely to be an as well as Lee. In other words no room for Charlie Lee (a pity) This leaves a big gap up front alongside Kedwell. The thought of Stefan Payne in this role is truly depressing and there is no way that Oli will change from multiple injury prone to availability for 40 games a season. The hope therefore has to be to find one striker to make a competitive squad which has every chance of being better than last year.
rumors have it another 2 in shortly and then i think that will be that depending on how preseason goes
I heard that we were lined up to sign 8 players too. Hopefully Charlie Lee plus a nippy striker. Kevin Maher now seems surplus to requirements. Are the club allowed to withdraw the contract offer?
Wonder who the other 2 are, I think Lee will be one, but it is about if wants to come to Gills, the other, maybe just maybe Birchall.
Lee is aparantly still in negotiations so I'd watch that space. Signings on the whole were pretty much spot on... Hess has added more experience and cover to the defence and he has really strengthend midfield physically and got someone who on paper can replace Cody. In regards to the comment made by Hoadie I think on having a cover for LB, Frampton can play Left back so that's sorted but I can't see Jason Brown coming back. If he wants to break into the Wales side there's no way he will come down to League 2 and he has said in an interview that he would like to stay in the Premier League/Championship and like Bristol said, there's no room for Jason with us getting Flitney.
Still need another striker. Hopefully a player with some pace too. Only partnership at the moment is Kedwell and Stefan Payne / Dennis Oli. I think Dennis is far better out on the right anyway - He's a far better player when he plays there and really upsets opposition left backs with his speed and aerial ability.
