Agree with what you are saying mate but in this daft transfer market and the fact that teams pay well over the odds for English players (even though most are bang average) he is probably worth alot more than that.

Right we have a high of 300m and a low of 1m. So to be fair we'll go roughly for the mid point of 150m. That seems fair.

I understand why people are saying "he hasn't played any games". Jermaine Pennant cost Arsenal 2m when he was 15.

As soon as Rolando gets a few games under his belt, his price will sky rocket. Lad is the real deal and way too good for our shambles.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mike has a 5 year plan where he slots in potential player sales and values.
Aarons will most likely be slated for sale in 15/16.
The rest of the plan may look like this:

    14/15 - Debuchy & Tiote
    15/16- Sissoko & Aarons
    16/17- Krul & Janmaat
17/18- youth star + highest value player
18/19- youth star + highest value player

The question, however, is what is his worth and he is only worth £1M! Just because a club maybe willing to pay substantially more doesn't make him worth that.

Doesn't mean that the prostitute you use is worth more than the little lady at home just because it costs you more!

Erm, anything and everything is worth precisely what someone is willing to pay. I could say my phone's worth £100. If someone offers £120, it's worth £120. If someone offers £80, and I accept, it's worth £80.

    Disagree completely!

What if someone only offers you £40 for the phone - you would'nt sell it to them as you feel the phone's worth is considerably higher.

As it stands Aarons has done nothing of note for our team and so is reflected by his worth! Not sure why people think he is worth anything more than £1M is beyond me! Has anyone offered anything of value for him? No! Does that mean he is worth nothing, no!

Err, I already said if I said it was £100, someone offered £40, and I rejected then logic dictates it's either worth £40 and I'm wrong, or it's worth somewhere between £100 and £40.01!!

Aarons is PROBABLY worth considerably more than £1m, because most clubs with the inclination would most likely pay a lot more than £1m. He is not worth £0 because someone hasn't offered an amount of money either, because that would imply an offer of £0 would be accepted, which we know for a fact would not be accepted. At this moment in time, would the club accept a bid of £1m? Absolutely not. So he's categorically not worth £1m. Would the club accept a bid of £5m? Maybe. £10m? Maybe. £30m? Definitely. I'd then suggest his worth at the moment is in excess of £5m, but less than £30m.

I think it is accepted this is a hypothetical judgement being made. I believe, and I'm sure many others too judging by this thread, that he is worth a hell of a lot more than £1m. This is based purely on what we have seen of him as a footballer, and what young English players tend to transfer for. Having already broken into the England U20 squad and made his PL debut for Newcastle, you can say with a fair degree of certainty that clubs would already pay more than £1m. Personally I think he has all the signs of a quality young layer. Give it a few more games and his value will sky rocket.

£1m? It just doesn't add up if you look to the likes of Pennant, Bostock and the like. Our game is littered with 18yr and under english lads who haven't played league football but transfer for ridiculous fees. Forest famously turned down 5m for Lascelles from Arsenal before he'd kicked a ball in the league football.

Their value is always what people are willing to pay - and they'd already be willing to pay a lot for Aarons, particularly with the rules changing regarding English players.

let's put it another way lads.
Prior to the Mandy transfer what did you think his value was? Me... £5-10m... Dippers.... £35,040,000 (the £40k was for the late payment).
I can honestly see one of the top 4 being daft enough to pay £20m+ for the lad.
He's a talent and if nurtured he could be worth double that in 5 years.

Me I think that a club like Chelsea or Man City might be prepared to shell out 5-10mill effectively on spec but he would be daft to accept such a move now as he may end up like Rodwell (and look whats happened to him now, his career is in ruins). I don't think many other teams would be willing to splash out that amount of money based on his limited game time. They would rather pay more when he has proved his value at the earliest the end of this season.
MA will I am sure hold on to him and hopefully watch his value soar as he singlehandly moves us out of the relegation places and up to 8-10th. Of course if we start to look like contenders for the Europa League he will instruct Pardew to either drop him or start rumours that we might not be able to hold onto him if the big clubs come looking so that he gets unsettled and goes off the boil.
