In the last third of the season Sterling was more important/productive than Suarez, though Suarez demanding so much attention from opponents was still a factor
Yeah ok guys Stones and Barkley are #worldclass especially since nothing will happen over the coming games to prove otherwise
Close the thread guys Tobes knows better than medical science and has already given his #neutral opinion Nothing more to discuss
You would think the England camp would employ some of those medical science guys and maybe some fitness coaches or something instead of just relying on a dinosaur like Roy
It's patently obvious a flat 2 days rest for "fast players" Is no more scientific than the man in the moon Every player is different but it's also obvious Rodgers made a big slobber over protecting sterling then stuck him on in game he rested and played him every game since and he's looked frankly piss poor in some situations
Probably not, but if he was any good then he would surely have been retained at one of the top clubs he has worked at, Barca and City would want nothing but the best for their players.
Same could be said for anyone. If LVG was any good would he not be kept on a manager at Barca? If Mourinho was any good would he not be kept on at Madrid? Do you know he was sacked or did he reign from one job to go to another to try a different league/challenge etc?
Quite right MITO, and in fairness it is unrealistic to expect any national team to call together 25 players from 8/9 different clubs and just say to them all "just follow your own training regimes guys, do what you like"
Different situations, managers are judged on team performancies and dressingroom unrest and many other things, physio`s/medical teams are judged on the fitness of the players. Backroom staff don`t leave teams like Barca and City for a challenge. Where is he now, do you know?
Injured, painkiller injections, blah, blah, blah... Your words that I highlighted were "It was playing too many games when not fully fit". If you are feeling tired then you are not fully fit as you're feeling tired. Tiredness puts a drain on the muscles and stops you performing at your full capacity. Your 'PS' is a different matter and nothing to do with how young players "burn out" through whatever means.
“Firstly, 19-year old players do not have a fully matured body yet so for them the game demands are higher & will develop much more fatigue,” wrote the Dutchman, who still acts as consultant for several national football associations and clubs. “Young players who develop more fatigue during the game need longer time to get rid of this fatigue otherwise they accumulate fatigue in body. “Secondly, Sterling is not only a young but also an explosive player. They have many fast muscle fibres compared to less explosive players. “Fast muscle fibres recover slower compared to slow muscle fibres because less blood & oxygen is running through these fast muscle fibres. “If explosive players do not get extra recovery time & are treated in the same way as other players, they accumulate fatigue in their body. “Accumulation of fatigue due to insufficient recovery makes the nervous system slower. The signal from brain to muscles travel slower “If the signal from the brain arrives later in the muscles this means the brain has less control over body during explosive football actions. “So there’s much evidence that insufficient recovery, accumulation of fatigue & slower nervous system are dramatically increasing injury risk.”
Nobody actually said follow the clubs regimes to the finest detail, they could just listen and work with the clubs rather than believing there poor equivalent setup knows best. However, why is it unrealistic? Liverpool have a individual regime for each player. Each one has a set routine that includes how much of a break they need. Its how Rodgers managed to have the likes of Agger, Gerrard and Johnson etc available much more than his predecessors. Now, if a club can managed twenty-five plus players on individual regimes, why can't the national team? What is more important? Having players available to train together because they only have a short time span on international duty or having players available to play? I'm pretty confident its the latter but you may prefer the physio to be busy
According to his wiki page, this "Dutchman" who you like to quote so much, has not worked since Feb 2012 when the Welsh FA kicked him out. Probably writing another book. NB Writing a book does not make you an expert.
You're wasting your time, mate. They're not interested in a debate, and no amount of evidence, no matter how compelling, will dampen their enthusiasm for yet another mindless dig.
