Personally, I wouldn't give a **** if they renamed Anfield never mind just a stand that's still using a standard name. Extra income and we'd still call it Anfield anyway. Bit like Man City and Eastlands
Fans would be up in arms if there was a move to rename Anfield, I know I would be. As for the main stand, I do think that the owners are in touch enough with the fans to choose an acceptable name, but as it's just one stand, unless they go for sentiment which would be a nice touch, I don't mind too much as long as it's not BK or dunkin donuts.
Trouble with using someone like 'Warrior' is kit makers are gonna change over time. So does the stand name change? I honestly loathe getting into bed with these corporations. (Yes I know its part of the modern game and we need to 'keep up')
Branding a stand is of dubious value to a sponsor, so therefore will not return a figure that's of great consequence - compared to renaming a ground for example. The commercial benefit should always be compared with the historic and cultural aspects. If we move grounds I'd have no problem with the naming rights being sold, but I'm not sure I'd like one of the current stands at Goodison being commercially branded.
I think it's funny when people say it's only a name. What if your child's school decided that your son was to be called Humphrey instead of Jack - cos it's only a name. Or maybe if the price was right you'd let a sponsor re-name him
its also easy to say when you don't have to sit in the ****ing thing lol. imagine a conversation with your mate, "going to the game today?", "yeah mate, you?", "for sure, where will you be sat?", "i will be sat in the ****ing burger king stand lol."
I think it will still get called the main stand whatever ...... unless John Henry sells out to Dave Whelan ..... then it'll be the DW stand come what may
Given Lverpool's long association with shipping I'm going to float the idea of the Cunard Stand!!!!! Very appropriate when you cruising along and winning 3-0!!!
The pfhackt is if the main stand is the one in pictures on tv then that sponsor gets a lot of tv visibility. End of.... So yeah it's not as valuable as at "the Emirates" but it's not as low rent as the tesco bowl or whatever Everton was up for But it's "only" 75 million for the stand FFs the tv money covers that in a year or so... 25 mil from some company and then 50 mil over 10 years? That's no big deal IMO Lfc can sneeze that much out or waste it on inferior reserves so whatever..... Rent a stand
