I've been waiting for Cut the Corner to run again after a horrific ride from AP McCoy last time out. I think 110 is very lenient. However, Newland has picked a tough race to get that first win. Giving weight to all could prove difficult. My head says no bet but my heart is saying see how the market forms and have a go if 8/1 or bigger. Wetherby 4.35
CHEVETON 6-1 Nottingham 4:55 relishes the current conditions and has been handily placed to get back to the same mark that he won this race off last year. Oisin Murphy takes the ride tomorrow and that's a bonus! Another going back to the scene of last years victory is MYSTICAL SAPPHIRE in Kemptons 8:45 and off a mark only one pound higher merits a little respect at 22/1. A few shorties that I fancy REMBRANDT VAN RIJN 8:15, FLIGHT OFFICER 3:45 & FINAL COUNTDOWN 2:20
Dunowen Point 3/1 Lightening Rod 14/1 Tregaro 10/1 Cut The Corner 9/2 Yankee for me, good luck fellas!!
Morning, pilgrims. Hope everyone tickety-boo. What, I say, what is old boy Gosden up to today??! He’s seemingly got half his barn out with entries into double figures. Included in this number is currently unraced half-brothers to both The Fugue and Winsili. The old rogue must fancy his chances to get at least 3 or 4 into the old winner’s enclosure and I bet plenty of multiples will be going on old boy Gosden today. Nothing for me today but here’s a teaser for the great brains on the forum and the first correct answer will win a ‘Barney Bonus’. Which jockey, with a NH licence, has ridden the most winners on the Flat, in Britain, this year. Get those thinking caps on, crew.
Just noticed that old boy Gosden has now taken out 3 of his runners included in this number are the half-brothers to The Fugue and Winsili.
Richard Hughes stated that he would ride over sticks this year if he got a good enough ride. He did say this straight after winning a jumps jockey race at Goodwood mind!!! He is turning into a right old rogue. Who knew.
His Daddy’s got a yard full of good NH horses so if he really means it I’m sure he’ll get an offer. I actually pinched that question from today’s ‘Weekender’. They are moaning about Hughes riding in that Goodwood race saying it was ‘unsporting’ of him to ride in it especially if he goes on to win the Championship by a single win. The old boy didn’t break any rules though.
If Goodwood Mirage is ever going to regain the winning ways over hurdles, then surely today is the day. Nice track for him, good ground and he has had a prep on the flat. Would I back him? Not a chance.
I will save my money. Saturday should be a good day out, as long as the heavens don#t open when at the course. Even purchased a new pair of boots for the occasion. Sartorial.
Nice word in ‘The Weekender’ for Mr Henderson’s Call The Cops on Saturday at Cheltenham. Says he’s very nicely weighted and the sort to progress this term. Very inappropriate name though for a horse with the forum’s favourite trainer as he would never give anyone any need to do such a thing. Oddy, the 3YO hurdler you mentioned yesterday also gets tipped from the ‘West Country’ scribe. You want to put that on the ads for Not606 ’24 hours in front of the Weekender’.
